The other answers are somewhat true... but I think a little unrealistic.
I don't believe that the only pregnant women that look worse are those that didn't 'keep themselves up' or 'take care of themselves'
That seems to be only in reference to weight gain and confidence/the way they carry themselves
While eating well and staying active can help I think some women just don't look that great when pregnant.
There are all kinds of things going on, from the oily skin, to pigment changes, varicose veins (and they can show up in worse places than legs) sometimes hair is affected in a negative way, not all get shiny, pretty hair and there can be sleeping problems, so just the overall tired look.
Not every pregnant woman has the luxury of staying at home or being able to kick back... all of the ones I've known have either worked or gone to school f/t through the last month, or taken care of other children. So realistically, trying to get a workout and fresh/healthy homemade foods everyday is not going to happen, they'd be more worried about making it to the bed.
And what of the poor women that have morning sickness the entire pregnancy, or any other health issue.
Besides gaining weight, there is a lot more that affects the appearance of a pregnant woman, so no, although it's a beautiful process that would be worthwhile in the end and some get lucky I don't believe that there's a universal law saying that they're all more beautiful.

No true. Pregnancy does change a woman's body a lot, but many things can do this also, like drugs, alcohol, cigars, excess eating etc. My wife is 33 years old and after two kids, she looks better than ever (she has always been very athletic by the way so that helps). Anyway, a woman may lose some of her looks for a while when being pregnant. But there is something special about her and besides, on this stage sex is amazing. If she really wants to go back to how she was before giving birth it can be done. It is just a matter of will. This is an honest unemotional answer.

I felt like a fat cow when I was pregnant with my two, but my husband always told me how beautiful I was. Yes, it's a "beautiful thing" when a woman is having a baby, but I can't always say that she looks her best. Some women positively shine when pregnant, and others get rather dim. I think it's party in how they feel about themselves, but also how well they take care of themselves when pregnant. Women who try to hide it, or go on like nothing is changed wearing regular clothes, slouching over, don't usually look as good as the women who show that they are proud to be expecting. Yes, maternity clothing isn't all that great, but it's at least made for a woman's changing body. Sweats just don't cut it when a woman needs to look good.

I can say in the beginning for me everything was cool. Then like in the 5 or 6 month thats when i started breaking out. I have never been the one to get acne, but i feel like now i am making up for it. My forehead, and chin are breaking out. My face is fatter. As far as the weight gain, its all been in my hips and butt. My nose has spread a little. That was the one thing that i didn't want but i guess my body has other plans. It all comes with being pregnant. Hopefully it will go away when the baby comes

Well I think if you take care of yourself you will not see the negative side of pregnancy so much. Those who think the minute there pregnant they can just pig out on anything and everything, dramaticaly see the negative sides. My first pregnancy that was me, pigging out constantly. I gained 80 pounds and got stretch marks on my breasts and thighs. They have disapeared to the point they are barely noticable. My second preganacy I watched what I ate. If I got those crazy feelings to eat alot, it would be fruit or something else like salad. I gained 40 that one, and no new stretch marks. I weigh 115 now and I feel that my kids have changed me in more postive way.

Aside from faces being puffier, I believe most women are prettier when pregnant. I think there is that "glow". But I do think it does depend on the woman. If a woman lets herself go and gains way too much weight during her pregnancy, then it does look gross. Also, if a woman isn't enjoying her pregnancy, I think it shows too. Those women can also look bad. And then we all have our tired days during pregnancy when we can all look pretty rough.

Hell no! Plenty women look their best when pregnant. Plus you get plenty of attention. As long as you have something to keep your skin moist, (for those marks) you have nothing to worry about. Many women do not go back exactly the way they were before but some do!

No, women who are pregnant, especially the first few months look ripe. The breasts seem bigger, the hair shiny and the skin healthier. They get that extra bit of appeal. Maybe it doesn't account for all women but most women I have seen, looked great during their pregnancy, including my wife who kicked me out of the house on several occasions to get food in the middle of the night. Then, at these times, she wasn't so charming after all. lol

I really don't think that pregnancy doesn't rob your looks, the only thing that does that is a woman that doesn't take care of herself and of course as you get older, but the more you take care of yourself the better you look. There are some woman who when they are pregnant their nose spreads, but i really do think when u are pregnant you are beautiful as long as you don't let yourself go.

It honestly depends on how you carry yourself while you're pregnant and how good you take care of yourself. Since I have been pregnant I have noticed pregnant women alot more and some of them have let it ruin them. Me personally, it takes a tole on your body, so your body requires more attention than it did before. There is alot of things that are impossible to prevent no matter what you do like stretch marks. So, it really depends on the woman and how she takes care of herself. Good luck!
