It's plausible that that was media conditioning to facilitate the increased governmental powers under which we now live today. Your opinion?

Yes, things changed, because we as a nation finally stopped hitting the snooze button & going back to sleep after every terrorist attack against our military or our embassies. We have just begun to realize since 9/11 that the terrorists have been at war with us for years, we just didn't do anything about it, which made them bolder with each subsequent attack. Remember the attack on the U.S.S. Cole? An attack against a U.S. warship is an act of war!! What did we do when it happened? We sent the FBI to perform a criminal investigation. Big stinkin' deal. It should have been investigated by the intelligence community, & instead of worrying about those responsible being "brought to justice", we should have launched a counter-attack. The only place they should have been "brought" is the morgue.

Although I would agree that the media exploits things it definitly was the day everything changed. America lost its false sense of security when on 9/11.

I don't think the media is doing it usual run and scream tactic to facilitate the increased governmental powers - when does the media facilitate anything except panic.

Uh... while I really, really do not like or trust our government, it's kinda hard to pur all of the changes from 9/11 on the media. True they did give the administration a free pass for a full four years but some changes such as rebuilding Afghanistan, tighter border and port security, and better intelligence gathering wre natural results of 9/11.

Oh wait!! We didn't do any of that !!!
Hey! You may be right!

Yes of course things have really changed. Look at some airport lines waiting to board planes. things you can take on an airline have changed. You cannot enter a seaport area anymore without picture id. No do not think it had any thing to do with media conditioning. We just live differently now and maybe that is a good thing makes us more aware of the danger now.

It changed everything in my life. I worked at a mortgage company at the time, and wow did business pick up. Not to mention my husband is at war for the second time in 3 years because of the aftermath of 9/11. Airport security was tightened, the economy changed dramatically, our government changed, people changed-even if temporarily-and became more patriotic, rearranged their priorities, etc. It would be a cold hearted reporter who would have been able to report the events of that day and lace it with propaganda for a more intrusive government.

That's an interesting idea.

I really don't think much changed at all. It made us feel really sad, but like Americans we went on about our business and if it weren't for the media, we would have forgotten about it by now for the most part.-- except of course the victims families-- who my heart goes out to.

I know our media changed a bit. Corporations merged and now we only have a tiny handful of ENORMOUS corporations owning perhaps-- controlling all the media we see and hear.

The significance of 9-11 was exaggerated. There was no media conspiracy (i.e., secret cover-up) but terrorists cannot change the world as say the axis powers in WW II etc...

YOU would have to be pretty dense IMO to think 9 11 didn't casuse a ton of changes. Nothing will ever be the same. People don't look at each other the same. Our stress levels change when we fly because it is such a reminder. Some have stopped fly. Getting to work on a military base is alot more cumbersome now. THings have changed!

It has indeed drastically altered the American way of life which is now fraught with fright never ever experienced prior to the 9-11 holocaust!
