The drive from Denver to Mexico City is 1820 miles (2930 kilometers) and takes about 34 hours. The most direct route is to take I-25 south from Denver to Las Cruces. Proceed on I-10 east to El Paso. Cross the border into Ciudad Juarez and take MX-45 south to Chihuahua. Proceed to Mexico City by way of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi.

You can be excellent served to re-learn the proper recommendation of T-TailArrow above and totally put out of your mind the opposite solutions. It's a realistic subject of riding throughout ONLY in the event you plan to stick within the border zone. But for riding to Mexico, D.F. and Puebla, you have got to comply with the professional laws for a transitority importation allow. You MUST get a allow and window sticky label on the border. If you don't have one and you're stopped within Mexico, they are able to and can take your automobile away. Getting the allow is a really realistic subject. Once you go the border, seem for (or ask for) the automobile registration workplace. It isn't consistently placed at or close the major immigration access station. Sometimes it is a block or 2 away. Have your ORIGINAL automobile name or that letter of permission from any lienholder (just like the financial institution). Have photocopies of that and of your registration, passport (1st web page best) and drivers license. After that side of the forms is completed, you move to the Banjercito (most of the time within the identical constructing) to pay the import price. You will want an global bank card. If you don't have one, you're going to be requested to pay a coins bond calculated at the importance of your automobile. It can be lower back to you while you are taking the automobile again out of the nation inside the 6-month restrict. Once they positioned the sticky label for your windshield, DO NOT REMOVE IT. When you depart the nation, you MUST return to the automobile workplace and switch on your allow. They will then scrape the sticky label off your windshield. If you do not do that, you're going to exhibit up within the pc as having left the automobile in Mexico and you're going to now not be ready to force it or every other automobile again into Mexico ever once more with out paying a tremendous high-quality. Now that the Mexican forms is increasingly automatic in such matters, seeking to bend or get across the laws is more difficult and has better penalties.

On Yahoo! main page, click on "Maps" and enter your destination. Then when the map of Mexico City pops up, click on "Driving Directions To". Then you can print out the directions which will also give you the miles and a time approximation. (Be sure to add time for overnight rest and rest stops during the day.) Also, be sure to have with you all legal documentation, identification and such that will allow you to cross the border and back. Any travel agent can give you this information as well as any passport issuing agent.
Safe journey.

I 25 all the way to El Paso, the border.
Be sure to have your passport or proof of citizenship in order to cross the border into Mexico.
Be sure NOT to have any drugs, guns, ammo on your person or vehicle. You do not want to be a guest in a mexican jail, or any other nationality jail, for that matter.
Once in Mexico (Ciudad Juarez is the mirror town of El Paso) use (mex) I 45 via Chihuahua all the way to Torreon (844 kilometers) (one mile equals 1.609 kilometers).
From Torreon, take I 49 to San Luis Potosi, (545 kilometers) and then I 57 all the way to Mexico city (423 kilometers)
Do not drive by night. Do not drink and drive. Drink bottled water. Use the toll roads, whenever possible, a bit expensive, but safer, faster, usually shorter. Do not sleep in your car. Do not flash big rolls of cash around. ATM´s are widely available, and they dispense Mexican Peso bills. (one US dollar aprox. 11.00 Mex. pesos)
PEMEX is the only gasoline sold in Mexico, two grades: Magna is the lower octane, good enough for my car. Pemex gas station on every road. Most with good restrooms. Most with smalll convenience stores.
Enjoy your trip.

In addition to what Rodolfo said you also need to buy a Mexican auto insurance policy - your American policy has no value in Mexico. AAA can help you with this. Have enough available cash to" negotiate" with the local PD - carry it in small denominations
You will also need to either have a free title on your car or have written permission from the lien holder to take the car to Mexico.
be careful but have fun
