Anywhere in NC--we have it all: beaches, Asheboro Zoo, Carowinds theme park, close access to Tennessee - Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, mountain trails, hiking, sight-seeing, the Blue Ridge Parkway, mountain biking, Nascar, hockey, football, baseball, skating parks, area swimming lakes, fishing, picnicing, canoeing, white water rafting, fine dining, the arts, movie stars, -and swimming pools!
Not to forget Chapel Hill, UNC-wherever, Raleigh State, Asheville High School, and other fine institutions of learning.

North Carolina has some very good schools, especially for college and law school, if you're interested in law. There are lots of beaches and other forms of recreation in North Carolina. NC is a bit more well off than SC. There are quite of bit of country bumpkins in SC.

I would suggest that you pick a city and go on-line to its site. One can find out all about it in that way. There are also sites that can tell anyone about the crime rate in an area, cost of living, schools, and other helpful information. So, get a map, pick a place, and look it up! I hope this helps.
