Teachers are required by law to follow a student's IEP. There is caselaw supporting this. A teacher was sued and lost because he refused to follow the IEP. In addition, I've been told that a teacher can lose his/her teaching certificate if he/she refuses to follow an IEP.

I have to. I save all the work that I give which matches with the IEP goals and show the parents at conference then send home a progress report and report card based on the IEP goals every quarter. ( you mean there are school that don't?)
Why? it's the law, it's my job, it's proof I'm not sitting around playing Solitaire all day! LOL
