iam an egyptian person who might live in spain and i was thinking about barcelona . i wanted to know are catalans open for outsiders to live in barcelona and are they freindly ?? thank you very much

In general they aren't too friendly to outsiders, although I did run into some nice people there. I am American and was in Catalunya on 9/11/01 -- (9/11 happens to be Catalunyan Independence Day) Some people were very sympathetic but others seemed that they couldn't care less --- people wer nicer in Girona than in Barcelona.

Madrid is a much friendlier city -- but you must be aware that many people in Spain are not too keen on Arabs at the moment.

Not very much, I'm afraid. And even less if you don't speak their dialect, Catalan, which most of us Spaniards don't speak :)
