The past is prologue. Whatever happens is a result of what and how people ARE and how they will always remain and continue to be, so if you're starting a friendship or relationship with anyone, you had BETTER study their past and find out as much about it as you can because YOU will become a part of that fate yourself! People NEVER change. The further back you can see...... the further AHEAD you'll be seeing. Copy/paste this, print it, and hang it on your WALL so you can never forget it. You will be glad you did. That goes for ALL of history about everything. History repeats itself were the truest words ever composed. The past is the MOST important thing that matters and don't let anyone tell you different, or ''let's just look at the future and forget the past'' lol..... are they KIDDING? They have an ulterior motive, but the past comes back and hits you right in the face..... and often when you least expect it....... but SHOULD expect it, which is the point.

Yes and no. The past matters only so much as we need to make use of it. Hopefully people are learning from the mistakes that they and others have made. This does not mean that the past should be your only focus in life, at some point the past does not matter and you have to handle the here and now as best you see fit.
The past will affect the future but we don't always know how.

From a strictly limited human perspective, past, present and future form a continuous stream with many tributaries, all flowing inexorably toward an end not yet in view. From this perspective certainly past matters since it feeds the present and future because of time's arrow, its unidirectional flow. From some larger perspective we can't quite grasp, however, everything exists at once and time is but an illusion. Don't try telling that to your boss though the next time you're late for work, at least not if you want to keep your time clock punching job.

That's like asking if the foundation of a house matters. Of course it does. The present and the future are built upon the past.

I am a firm believer that the past predicts the future, so yes it matters. No matter how we evolve humans are humans and we have instincts and human nature forces, we will all make the same mistakes and there were always be those who go down in history, either as a hero or a horrific killer. And based on human nature we are more drawn to horror then history-- ask someone what Napoleon did and then ask what Ted Bundy did, 80% wont know Napoleon but they will know Ted Bundy

Yes, the past does matter, matters past develop into the present, and the present presents the future.
Best I can do without more details.

Without the past, there'd be no present.
We base our judgements on past experiences.
Does it matter that another planet collided with Earth so long ago? Yeah. We have a moon and tides because of it.
Does it matter that I got a paper cut last Friday? Not really, but it did change me for a short while - I was more careful around paper.

Everyone agrees that the future matters. All pasts were once futures. Therefore the past is all past futures and all futures are future pasts. So yes, the past matters. The present is here and gone, the future is not guaranteed, the past is all we have for certain.

It matters because it is the stepping stone of your present condition.
Decisions that were made in the past have a direct effect upon the present time.
Naturally you need to be concerned with the present, but you must also realize that your present is the result of your past.

No. what you did in the past is over you cannot change it, no matter how hard you try. What you do right now matters the most. What you choose today predicts the future... not what you did in the past.
