I've got a pond that is a little over an acre. It is spring fed and has a windmill powered air pump that introduces air from the bottom of the pond. This pond has sustained a healthly population of various species of fisf for 6 years. Now they are disappearing FAST! When I built the pond I cut the sides steep to prevent herons from feeding because I had seen what they can do to a pond before. I can find no remains for my missing fish, there are no tracks around the pond and I have had the water sampled and tested two different times with good results both times. Where in the hell can my fish be going. I have also set 5 trail cameras around the pond and I have no fishing going on that I don't know about. I have almost no fish left. Aprroximately a quater mile away there is a second pond that is almost identical and it is doing fine. When I had the water sampled I tested both ponds and the results are practically identical. Where in the hell are my fish disappearing to?

All that I seem to have left are few sunfish. I cannot find a bass anywhere. I had two snapping turtles that lived in and around the pond (there is a small island in the middle) but I have trapped both of them out thinking that they might be the problem.

Is there any chance that another fish or more than one fish is eating the others? I have seen that happen before. I would say maybe an animal, but you would see that on a camera...maybe unless it is a bird of some sort, but it would probably hit the other pond as well.

1.Could be a predator bird
2. Other fish in the pond ate them (Check what is the current majority of the fish in your pond - are they predatory?)
3. your neighbour who owns the other pond saw that the fish in his pond are disappearing due to option one or two and thought that you might have took them therefore stole from your fish!

you said that you did have authorized fishing in the pond, it sounds like all your major fish got caught and there weren't enough left for breeding to replinish your stock, the sunfish could have overwhelmed what few breeders you had and eaten all the fry.

Could it be hawks? I know that was issue with our Koi pond. We had to plant trees around the pond, so they couldn't get a good flight path. You could also try motion sensitive sprinklers.
