Dolly, the sheep was first mammal to be cloned successfully from cells of an adult sheep(in 1997).

Since u've asked for "successful cloning", Dolly is exact answer. But previously (in 1986), a sheep was tried to be cloned by nuclear transfer from embryonic cells. Unfortunately, that gone unsuccessful.

The problem with "Dolly", which was not anticipated, but which is now known to affect all cloning, is that the cells of the cloned sheep were the same biological age as the cells they were cloned from. In other words, Dolly was born already "old", which is why she didn't last very long.

It was a sheep named Dolly. In1996.

It was not the first clone, but the others died to soon to be considered successful. Dolly also died young, so maybe it wasn't so successful after all.
