I dated a woman like that, she was a professor and editor of high profile, mainstream publications, but looked like a biker chick or rock groupie (I am very conservative looking). Despite her looks, she was very conservative when it came to family and how she treated the people around her. Probably one of the best women I've ever known. She was not hung up on what other people thought about her (except that she would not compromise on professional ethics and quality of her work). She was a lot of fun and best of all, no games, no drama (when things didn't work out we just talked about it and parted friends). I'm not saying that the woman you are dating is like this, but if she is not a game player, behaves responsibly and treats people with respect (and most of all makes you happy), who cares if she doesn't look mainstream.

Sounds like the perfect gal! Don't worry about society, we're all different. And she has the brains to go with the looks on top of it! As far as stereotyping, if she's not "easy" (or any of those other things), then you know the truth. You may have found a soulmate if you can see through what society believes is a "bad" girl. If you get along, have fun together, and she pushes your mind, how bad can that be? My husband appreciates that all in me!

It sounds like you hang around a lot of stuck up snobs that think that everyone has to look a certain way to be considered a decent person. It sounds like that the woman that you are interested in is creative and fun. And if this is someone that you can relate to and you have fun with, the screw everybody else. You have to live YOUR life for you and not try to fit into this box that makes you more socially acceptable. All in a nut shell, i think that you should continue seeing the woman that makes you happy. And your so- called friends are going to have to accept her or else move on to the next person that they think they control.

She does sound like she would be alot of fun, but highly educated in what? Girls that dress in tight clothes, with tatoos and possibly piercings want to get noticed, you noticed her didn't you. If she dressed conservatively and was highly educated, would you have noticed her still. Hmmmm, probably not. So, play it by ear and REALLY get to know her first to see whether or not you are the ONLY one she is trying to attract.

Society and their outlooks on external qualities...it is a shame, isn't it?
Don't worry about what others think. You don't need her to wear glasses and khakis to be beautiful for all the qualities you listed.
Who are the people that are saying this? Friends? Shame on them, then. Colleagues? Probably jealous that they couldn't land her. Family? Take them all out to dinner so that they can meet the real woman inside.
It sounds like you have a good lady there. Grab on to her, and make her feel appreciated!

Date her, but every now and then, do an assessment of the relationship to make sure it is good for you. Ask your friends for their feedback.
Not every woman with a tattoo is a slut, and not every slut has a tattoo. And if you catch yourself saying, "Man, if she wasn't so good looking, this wouldn't be worth it" - then it's not.

If you like her, date her. No one can decide who's right for you. As long as you think she's a good person, and you are attracted to her, then go for it!

You have to choose between her and the everyone who says those things. If it were me, I'd choose her.
