Who in their right mind decided to either start or make it law that in almost every political advertisement that the canadite(sp) had to say at the end of the message "I approve this message"? Really it gets quite old and boring but I suppose there is a case to be made for the canadites actually approving the messages that are put on the air so that other messages are not mistaken for being linked to a certain canadites views. I just get tired of hearing it because to me its like DUH I know you approve the message!

I don't know who did it, but the reasoning is that for a while Special interrest groups were paying for ads and making it seem that one candidate had of course paid to slam their opponent, and it would turn out that they didn't. it also has a lot to do with the campaign finance laws. Who pays for what, and what does a candidate have to do in return...

What REALLY pisses me off is that our elected officials get to spend almost all their final year running for re-election campaigning rather than running our country. And WORSE we pay for it, we pay to fly them and their entourage all over the country. meanwhile the country's like a plane flying on autopilot w/ the pilot and a liberty stewadess doing the nasty in the lavatory. This is ON top of the 80+ days a year our presisdent takes for vacation.

A few politicians got into a lot of trouble over some mud slinging cooked up by campaign managers....the politicians supposedly weren't aware of the adds...so now they approve them before they are aired.
