I heartily concur! This bothers me, too, yet here, especially in the Education section, you see this situation. But we can help, right? I try to keep to the rules when answering, but I have done a considerable amount of admonishing bad spelling, poor grammar, etc, along the way. Oh, well...the state of the educational system in the USA has certainly declined in the past twenty years. But if we aren't a part of the solution, we will be a part of the problem. Thanks for the observation.

We are also the leader in poor grammar and poor spelling. However, I'm ashamed that there is not more poor grammar and poor spelling in the Ãber Stätes of Ameriká. Alas!
Moore, pour grammer! More po', Grammur! Mour, pour, grammour!

I am from the US and there are so many "reasons" I can give. One of the most common things I can think of is that "Americans" age 30 & under very commonly use lots of slang. Also it is considered "uncool"; and in my culture "acting white" to use proper language; I am 28 & still get teased for being articulate... sorry to say, but ignorance is the "American way"... Look at our president for goodness sake...

While some like grammar and correct spelling, others just don't care.

expressing yourself is what counts. emphasizing function over form is part of what makes America great!
