I live in wisconsin and we have potowatomi indians here. They get a thing called per cap every month they get a certain amount of money. Also when they graduate, they get a quarter of a million dollars. The just built a bigger casino and are raking in the dough. It depends on the tribe I guess.

This seems doubtful. The money you're receiving from the government is, I assume, some form of welfare? If that's the case, it would probably take you many, many years to save up enough to cover startup costs for even a very small business (unless, of course, it was some sort of Internet venture with little to no overhead costs).
Plus, what would you live off on while saving up this money? Can your parents or another relative completely support you?
To answer your question, I guess it COULD happen. But you would need to be very patient, very careful in construction a business plan and very reliant on the financial support of others.
Good luck.
PS Nice user name.

Yes, this is true. You have to do a little websearching though. I know with a bit of diligence and perserverance on your part, you can do some tedious, applying for government monies. I even heard in the grapevine Bush is going to be getting rid of ALOT of Native American programs because they are just not being utilized and are becoming outdated. Why do you think there are huge pushes lately to get the casinos going in many other states other than Nevada? These programs are going to expire if you don't hurry up and get that money.

Its not a matter of just living on a res. you have to have blood proof that you are NA. If so, it also depends on which tribe. I grew up on the Southern Ute Res (not an Indian though). They just received 30,000 each from the tribe due to its large profits in natural gas, gambling and other businesses. This of course was all at the tax payers expense. So yes, you could save enough money to start a business. It all depends on the tribe you belong to. Not all are as rich as the Southern Utes. In fact, they are the richest.

Sorry but that just would not be possible.. The only people making millions on the Indian Reservations are the corrupt.. very corrupt tribal chiefs(so-called chiefs). They are making millions and millions in their pockets so IF you could somehow work your way to becoming a tribal council or something like that.. YES.. you could buy the whole reservation

Well if you are like the ones in Oklahoma you will have a really nice new house next to alot of other new houses where the grass code is 7 feet tall and at lease 7 cars parked in the yard. You won't work, your food will be free and if you do get one of the 7 cars to work your tag will cost you nothing. So I say go for it!

Starting a business does not have to involve much money. It all depends on what kind of business you want to do.
Yes it can happen.....not sure on the part about receiving money from the government though.

ANY NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN LIVING ON A RESERVATION IS MORE THAN LIKELY TO NEVER SUCCEED IN LIFE. VERY FEW DO MAKE IT AND HAVE PRODUCTIVE LIVES. THE GOVERNMENT DOES ALOT OF SUBSIDIZING ON THE RESERVATION AND IT MAY BE POSSIBLE FOR HIM TO GET GRANTS FOR A BUSINESS. I WOULD ADVISE THIS STUDENT TO CONTINUE AND FINISH HIS EDUCATION, AND NEVER RELY ON THE GOVERNMENT FOR ANYTHING.
