The hair serves to increase the surface area on which your natural body odours can evaporate into the air.

Your pits have special sweat glands which are a hangover from cave-man times and earlier. The glands make smells which are designed, amongst other things, to attract a mate. Obviously the more smell then the better your chances, so pit hair helps release more smell. (Perhaps you could let us know if it's working? lol)

Caused by bacteria growing, the more hair the more area for bacteria to grow and the more smell. It's bad taste for ladies to let their arm pit hair grow below the elbows, dear.

I dont know the SCIENTIFICAL reason for this...but its probably because there is bacteria growing on the hairs...and it just hangs around and spreads and begins to smell more....try shaving more, they will smell less!!!
