I didn't personally give birth at 36 weeks, but one of my good friends gave birth when she was about 35 weeks. The baby only weighed 5 llbs 2 ounces, but other than that she was a very healthy baby. They got to leave the hospital the next day. i wouldn't worry about it, your baby is fully capable of living on its own by that time.
Good Luck

I went into labor when i was 33 weeks and they stopped it but they had given me those shots to help speed up the developement of my babys lungs but them i went into labor again when i was 36 weeks and this time they couldn't stop it.
The fluid around my son was low. So they went ahead and flew me out to a university hospital in my home state cause i was early.
I had to have a c-section cause he was breech. When my son Julian was born on august 16th 2001 (Original due date: September 14th, 2001) He weighed 4 pounds, 15.6 ounces and was 17 inches long.
He was healthy. He didn't need oxygen or anything. The only thing that was wrong was he had a touch of jaundice (which is okay)..... We both got out of the hospital on the same day. Now he is 5 years old...
Everything should be fine for you. Good luck

There is an excellent chance that if born at 36 weeks your baby will be "take home" material. If your pregnancy is otherwise uncomplicated and baby is within normal weight for 36 weeks, he/she is very unlikely to experience any problems or breathing difficulties. The steroids you have been given will improve these odds even further ! having a prem can be a bit of a scary experience please relax and enjoy what will most likely be a very happy healthy normal delivery and baby !

I had my son at 36 weeks. I had pre-eclampsia and my blood pressure was getting so high they didn't want to take the chance I'd stoke. My son weighed 6lb 9oz. He did have to stay in a little breathing hood thing for several hours right after he was born. It kind of looked like a big clear bucket they put just over his head... Anyway other than that he is perfectly healthy and already in the gifted and talented class at school (he's in 1st grade now).
Try not to worry. Good luck and enjoy the addition to your family.

My Dr induced my labor at 32 weeks. I also had the steroid shots. I gave birth to a beautiful HEALTHY 7 lb little girl!!! She turned a year old last month. The best advice I can give is not to stress. Medicine has come a long way. Good Luck and Keep us informed.

I have had 4 children and non came when they were due.
1st- due august 16 came on july 31,
2nd- due may 10 came on april 20,
3rd- due april 29 came april 13,
4th- due july 15 came on july 1 so my point is they came early but the doctor said they come when they are ready maybe she is a bit older than they think its possible. but my second child that did come at 36& 1/2 weeks was perfectly heathy no problems at all. Hope this helps you feel better. Dont let and horry stories scare you every pregnancy is diffrent and so is every labor. Best wishes.

iF YOU WERE GOING TO HAVE YOU BABY AT 36 WEEKS THE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL WITH NO LONG TERM EFFECTS ON THE BABY IS MORE THAN 90%. THATS AN AWESOME NUMBER. THE BABY STILL MIGHT HAVE TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A FEW MORE DAYS FOR EVALUATION BUT NO "N.I.C.U." OR BREATHING MACHINES. I HOPE YOUR LITTLE ONE IS HEALTHY AND GOOD LUCK.

people do all the time, there can be problems at any time giving birth, but 36 weeks is pretty safe. i think you are considered full term at 37 weeks.
