This is not Michaelangelo's "The Creation of Adam" If you search google image sistine / god / michalangelo... you'll see it's a different painting.

That's part of Michelangelo's Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

God is creating things. Cool, huh?

I study Renaissance Art and this is part Michelangelo's cieling fresco in the Sistine Chapel, Rome.

It is the second scene in the chronological order of the narrative, the Creation of the Sun, Moon, and Plants and is depicted in the large field of the vault of the eighth bay, between the triangular spandrels.

Please take my advice as I certainly do know what I'm talking about and this is the Sisitine Chapel fresco. I've seen it with my own eyes. I know it well.

Looks like part of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel to me - by Michaelangelo. Beautiful!

The other answerers are confusing this with Michaelangelo's "The Creation of Adam," which it's not. God is reaching slightly downward in that, not up.

I don't know what it is, though.
