Recently, I heard on the news that this adult man entered a school in Colorado ending up shooting a female student and killing her. Not too long after that incident another crazy guy entered an Amish community/school in Pennsylvania harming 5 little children and I happened to see this mornings headline on Yahoo News that in Texas there was another crazy guy who took hostage of this little boy because he had an argument with his relative with two loaded guns in the house. Can you see what's wrong with all the facts I listed above here? I think people should own "guns" for the right reasons or purposes versus having people buy "guns" for no purpose or reason at all. Personally, I don't like guns and I will refuse to hold one or even pull the trigger just to practice in the Country where there are wild animals like bears and Mt. Lions, but then, there are people I know who owns a shotgun for the right reasons (i.e. living in the mountains) by preventing themselves from an

attack by a wild animal, but then, there are family members who I think shouldn't hold a loaded gun for fun. Lets take my sister in-law for an example. She gets spooked all the time and if she's carrying a loaded shotgun, who knows who she'll shoot. You know what I mean? If you place a loaded weapon in the wrong hands who knows what will happen versus if a matured adult bought the weapon for safety in living in the mountains then that would of course be a different story. How do you guys feel about gun violence as of our current world as of today?

i agree with you about the whole owning guns thing. however, it's really hard to prove whether or not the person will use the gun for hunting or shooting someone in the future. guns are dangerous. politicians have been fighting against them for years and there's really not much progress. maybe people should own taser instead! at least that's safer!

If you sit back and think about the kind of nation the U.S is it will make a lot more sense why people such as the ones from Colorado, Texas, and Penn. are capable of doing such things. Our wide diversity, entertainment, goals, freedom of speech, and such other materialistic objectives have eliminated any self respect and human morals that we once had!!! This country is based on making money!!! looking pretty!!! being famous!!! COMPETITION" it sucks to lose, it sucks when a girl dumps you because you don't look like the guy from MTV or when the girl isn't a model. Since we are born we are pushed to be the best and have the best! with that comes greed, hate, envy, jealousy, ANGER!!! Why do u think that guy from Penn. killed? out of anger for something they did to him years back! what happened with teaching our kids self respect and respect to others? what happened to having Morals? without these important assets people are going to continue killing without guilt or resentment! so don't blame the guns blame your parents, blame T.V, blame yourself for not doing something about it, and if u do target the obvious reasons not just the guns!!!!

'Nuts' don't always use guns, and what better way to defend yourself if not a gun? If only one teacher in one of the school shootings had a gun it's possible many student's or teacher's lives could have been saved. You cannot ban guns by law because the weirdos and criminals do not obey laws, they will then have ALL the guns! You're too naive.

Unfortunately, society values life less than it did a generation ago.
We allow children to grow up without solid parental and extended family influence. Instead they are raised by day care workers with little or no interest in the welfare of the child.
Our entertainment cheapens life, lowers expectations in human relationships, devalues self worth, reducing people to mere animals. Problems on TV and in the movies are solved by killing someone. I could go on.
Bottom line is humanity is out of touch with the high value we used to put on life.
Do something today that demonstrates you value another person. It's a start.

First of all cars kill more people then guns do should we start calling it car violence. having a 16yr old drive a car is more dangerous then having a gun in your house and guns don't kill people, people kill people that's like saying fast food kills people yea those murderers at McDonald's I don't know how they sleep at night.People have been killing each other for thousands of years with swords, knives, rocks, sticks, poisons and anything else they can think of so why don't you just give it up spend your time on something worth while quit worrying about stuff that doesn't concern you go bake a cake or something.

What has our world come to? People start wars due to false "reasons", such as "war crimes" and "weapons of mass destruction". For the sake of peace and justice, the US army should reduce its capability and capacity and get rid of its own weapons of mass destruction, including Depleted Uranium, cluster bombs etc.

Americas violent culture.
I think you Americans should burn your constitution and ban guns. Its the only logical answer, and before anyone says 'but i need it to keep safe' your wrong. Owning a gun will not make you any more safer than if you don't own one.
