We have a faucet, but the water is yellow, and I refuse to drink it. The company I work for refuses to pay for a company to bring in a water cooler for us to have drinking water. I work in Maine. Isn't there a law that requires them to do so? Do you know where I can find this information?

Not sure about Maine but in Georgia they aren't. Every place I ever worked just made sure that there was a place for us to put our drinks that we brought with us but we could only get them at designated times (except the store I managed b/c I actually let my staff get what they needed when they needed it!) I'd just get a water bottle and bring my own water with me if I was in your shoes.

They are not required to provide a water cooler for you. They might be required to do something about the water coming out of the faucet since it is unhealthy. Check out the department of labor website.

No. Just deal with it. I used to work at a place with no decent drinking water and all the employees got together and paid for a cooler rental and bottles of water to go on it. We just chipped in every month.

Employers are not required to provide drinking water. However, if the water is tainted or unsafe, the health department might find that interesting.

There are no such laws in Vermont. I believe that you are best off bringing in your own water and referring the issue to OSHA as others have suggested. Its not a violation to have no water availiable, but I'm sure it IS a violation to have unsafe water.
