The Daddy Long Legs (in the UK) is a common name for the Crane Fly. They live long enough to mate once and that span is about 10-15 days. Here's a useful link:

Daddy Long Legs Spider
(Pholcus phalangioides
Average Lifespan: 2-3 years
Average Length: Body length 9mm + legs
Habitat: Found throughout North America
Usual Diet: Insects
Captive Diet: Crickets
Mating: The actual mating process may take hours, the male deposits his sperm in the female where they remain until they can fertilize the eggs.
Reproduction: The female spider will wrap the eggs into a sack. After they hatch the young will remain in the protective casing and the weaker ones become food for the stronger ones. Eventually about 20 young will hatch from the egg case and the mother will guard them. After about 9 days the young will shed their skin and leave to build nests of their own.
Special Features: Also know as Harvestmen, Cob-web spiders, and Invisible spiders. These spiders have developed a method of camouflage by whirling their bodies around with their legs attached to the web. This makes them seem almost invisible to the observer.

There appears to be lots of wrong answers to your question here. The "Daddy Long Legs" flying insect (which is different to the spider of the same name), lives around 2 weeks. Their pupae, however, lasts longer in the soil whilst eating and preparing itself for 2 weeks of flying, mating, not eating, and heading towards lights and peoples houses.

The real name for the flying Daddy-long-legs is the Crane Fly. They lay their eggs in Autumn in grassy soil. The eggs pupate and turn into Leatherjackets. These eat the grass roots and cause problems. In Early Autumn, they hatch, if they have survived the hunt by crows and starlings. They turn into the Daddy-Long-Legs and fly about in a courtship ritual. Having mated, they lay their eggs and after annoying as many people as they can, they die..................

The lifespan of an adult is only about two weeks and their purpose is to mate and to die within a few days. There is debate over whether they even eat during their short lives or survive on food reserves stored in their bodies.
Hope that helps.
