What's your preference and why do you prefer it over the other? Personally I prefer college, I feel it is more competitive for one reason.

While professional is good, hard hitting, technical football, college has the spirit. Even if these guys ar only going to college as a stepping stone to the NFL, they still have something to prove. It has nothing to do with the money (not saying that it has never happened). They are playing for pride and glory. Because the number of players that make it to the NFL is miniscule compared to the number of players that are eligible, so they have to play every game like it is their last, and leave their heart and soul on the field every single game.

And there are always those games that make you proud to hear about, even if you don't pull for that team. For instance, last year, Vanderbilt had an incredible season last year, beating Tennessee AT HOME, nearly upsetting Georgia, and they completely dissolved their Athletics Department a few years ago (no recruiting, acedemic scholarships only). These guys play for the Commodores becaue they want to play at Vanderbilt. You have teams that aren't allowed to recruit in the same manner as other NCAA Div 1A teams, the three military academies. Before you can play football with them, you have to get into the school, and it is unlike being accepted for any other school (I applied to the Naval Academy while I was in the Marine Corps) You have to have congressional backing or be an enlisted member of the military to get in (I was about 190 on a list of 700 trying to fill the class graduating in 2002, 36 were accepted).

These three schools are not playing so that their boys can go to the NFL. 98% of the graduates will be commissioned into the armed forces, and they are playing for pride, and pride alone.

Once you go pro, you stop playing football, and start going to work.

The feel of a college game is different. I got to go to a college bowl game when I was in high school, my high school band was marching the half time show, and I don't remember who was playing. All I know is that there were almost 95,000 people in the stands. That was LSU's stadium. And it isn't the biggest, even in the SEC. The average professional team stadium seats about 50K. The lowest seating in the SEC seats 50K, tennessee seats nearly 110K, georgia and Auburn seat 96K. Metallica would go to a college game a feel that their concerts were quiet affairs.

That's a great question. I'm with you on liking college over pro, but not by much. It just seems that the crowd is always into it more. Also, I think that the talent pool is wider in college, which can lead to bigger plays, both offensively and defensively. Plus the history and tradition of each school and rivalries make every week exciting.

All of you who answered college, do you live in cities where there's a pro team? Because if you picked college football over pro, you're clueless. 95% of the players you're watching will never play an NFL game. That's how big the difference is in the quality of players. I can understand someone following a team because they went to that school, but watching college football is like watching insects have sex compared to the NFL.

I would have to say I like both, but it seems that college players, play with more heart. I think they do that, cause they are trying to become pro players, so they are trying to impress someone. However there are still some pro players that play just as hard in the NFL then they did in college.

College, every game counts. And its all about recruiting and not about who has the most money. That way tradition builds much easier. Plus it is a 180 degree difference at a college game that a pro. With the marching bands, the tradition, the affection for the program. Much better. Then also at least every 4 years you get new stars. Always changing. Way better.

College football.... better said... USC TROJANS and daddy Pete! I would say that the coaches have a part of it... but my answer to this question is college football.

Pro is good too but they most likely play for the fame and money...since they can't go anywhere else but pro... unlike college, they have to impress to move themselves up!

I used to love Pro ball, but being a Cleveland Browns fan, I can hardly stomach pro-ball , because of their move to Baltimore. I like college ball, because it's more about pride. Pride in your school, and pride in your state. It's more genuine.

College all around is better...college they play for the love of the game...and prove that its tough all around by doing classes and keepin their grades up, but also being awesome on the field

pro just care about advertisment and who can i make the most money off of...no love or passion for the sport they just want pay checks

college, rivalries are bigger, stadiums have more of a vibe to them, there is always more at stake, and one of the biggest importants is OverTime...i hate pro overtime...its unfair and not legit...

COLLEGE baby yea....go Gators

college- much more spirit. Most of the college players have no chance to make the pros (remember there's 1AA, D2 and D3 college ball) and they're not pampered millionaires like in the nfl.
