Are TV adverts wherever you are as exciting and humorous as ours in SA and which South African advert did you like most?

Few weeks ago there has been a TV show here in UK about the world's funniest TV commecials(sp?). I saw a few Vodacom ones which were indeed very funny, but the one that got me crawling on my knees with laughter was a Cell-C one, where a gorgeous girl in her flat is attacked by her own puppy, during that drama a toaster drops on the floor and sets the flat on fire. She then dives out through a window, all the way down on air and eventually sinks in the swimming pool.

Not really that exciting here in UK but my best is spotting Cape Town in 3/4 of the adds aired on TV here. Every now and then I get a glimpse of Lions Head or the Twelve Apostles.

They don't film the obvious things like Table Mountain but the secondary recognizable stuff.

I play spot SA on UK adds.

Great game!

Nah, adverts in the UK suck. (Except for Road safety ones showing CCTV and camera phone footage of people getting knocked over, those just leave me with chills)
Just recently saw a SAB advert on line at youtube.
They play Johnny Clegg's "Osiyesa" and everyone in SA pulls the continents closer with a rope, and stands on the beach and looks at the Sydney Opera house, next to the Statue of Liberty.
It brought tears to my eyes, missing home.
Even the Telkom one they show every Christmas, with South Africans singing Shosolosa on the London Underground and the British sitting shocked and quiet hits a nerve, it is so true.
Watched a Advert Award show the other day, and South Africa was right up there, with USA, UK and Australia.
We can be proud of the creative people in our country.

No ways...here they suck big time!! I always criticise them coz they aren't as good and funny as SA's...here they're too serous, these people have a dry sense of humour!! The ads are always about end-of-month stock and insurance for this and that!! My fav SA advert...hmmmm...that's difficult, coz there were so many!! I like the Fanta ones...the one with Barbie and Ken!! Hahahaha...and the one when the woman tells her man she likes it when he speaks foreign!!

Yes they are. If you live long enough in another country you learn to appreciate the local humour and things that might not be funny before you lived in that country, now becomes funny.
