Someone please tell me this is NOT going to turn out to be aliens. I would stop watching the show that second if that is the case. I'm tired of everything being about aliens.

I don't think aliens have anything to do with what's going on in Jericho. Although, I, too, would stop watching if that was the bizarre, distorted twist.
Jericho is a very accurate portrayal of what likely would happen if terrorists detonated nuclear weapons in several US cities. The preview for Jericho 4 has the freaky dude with radiation sickness...certainly nothing from outer space, but exactly what would happen if someone was dumb enough to enter a nuclear detonation zone.
I do not think the Chinese have anything to do with the attacks. The broadcast appeared to be a good spoof of a China Central Television news broadcast. If the Chinese were to have done it, the US Navy SSBNs (nuclear missile subs) would have levelled all of China soon after the first explosion.
As for where the nukes came from, considering America's open border with Mexico, such nukes could "walk" right into the USA. Further, there have been rumors from the 1950s that the KGB and Spetznaz (Soviet Special Forces) smuggled in nuclear bomb parts into America, and that these weapons are still active but hidden.

it's not aliens - did you see the part where they got tv reception for a second? There was a news anchor, asian, speaking in an asian language, with a map of the us behing him showing all the cities that were hit - it's either nuclear war with the chinese or the north koreans - i found it scary - a little too close to home with all the plastic sheeting and duct tape talk. I know this isnt entirely realistic, (from a what would happen if north korea actually bombed us standpoint - gwb is just waiting for an excuse to blow up the whole world)but the airplane black box recordings DID mention missouri air national guard f 16's on their way somewhere

I love this show. I don't think it's going to be aliens. I think Denver isn't there anymore, more like craters where most big cities used to be. More folks in the dark and hungry. That's much worse than aliens.
Update: After thinking about this and seeing all the answers of people that watch the show, I don't think China has anything to do with the attacks. I think it's more the Koreans. I know a tiny bit about Asian languages, and the letters and the way the spoken language sounds, I really think it's Korea that's attacked the terribly unprepared US. I watch way too much TV!

You know....I didn't even think of aliens. But somehow I doubt it.
I know it's just a TV show, and they can write what they want, but I don't think the Chinese could actually nuke 8 of our cities. I don't think they've got that kind of missile technology yet. Also sounds incredibly difficult for terrorists too. 1 or 2, maybe even 3, but 8 or more? I doubt it.
No, I think we'll find out the Russians are responsible, eventually. They will have probably launched a response to what they thought was an attack. Who knows? I'm only guessing.

Been watching since the beginning. No, not aliens! But, worth watching to find out what happens next. Love it so far. Best show since Lost started. Gotta love this stuff.

Do you think it's about aliens because all the people disappeared from the planes??? I don't think it will be about aliens but that thought hadn't crossed my mind before. I want to know what is up with the African American guy, what is he hiding and why won't he let his family be seen???? I can't wait to see where the show is going

I believe the show is about WWIII (the end of the world) I do not believe it is about aliens

I did watch Jericho. Well, from the episode yesterday, I think the Chinese might be behind the radiation poisoning attack.

I missed last evenings episode, but the first two were enough to scare me. I agree that the show may not last, it is too "doomsday".
