I'm a guy approaching 30 and I'm in love with a girl who's in her teens. She likes me a lot and wants a relationship. I don't care about the age difference but society would cause problems given she's in her mid teens. Should we start a relationship? I know her parents quite well and they're both fine about us being together.

You need to specify what you mean by late teens!
18-19 could be acceptable
Any younger you are on dangerous ground even if her parents
seem okay.

Mmmm, as a parent with a daughter in her 'teens' (how old exactly is this girl??) I have to admit that I would not be as accommodating as this young ladies parents appear to be. I know that age should not matter but this is not a matter of how many years are between you but more about how old she is to your age. You are old enough to be her father and as such I can't imagine this relationship being healthy right now. What do you and her have in common? Is she still in full time education? I can't imagine that a man approaching 30 would want the same out of a relationship as a girl in her mid teens...she is just too young and no matter how mature for her age. Please reconsider.

Depends. If by mid teens you mean 15 or younger you would be breaking the law by having a sexual relationship with her.But if she's 16,as long as you are both happy and there are no problems from her parents who cares what anyone else thinks?

My 'partner' is 10 years older than me, which is fine now, and even when we met and I was 20 (him 30) - but every now and then something comes up in conversation like something he did when he was 18 - and I was only 8 years old then - yuk!!
The age difference kind of becomes less as you get older - but if she is 13/14/15, then I personally think that she is too young to be having a relationship with a 30 year old.

the fact that you ask this shows the age difference does affect you in spite of your disclaimer ... i would suggest being very cautious as this may be an infatuation with an "older man" on her part ... instant status to her peers, but she lacks the maturity to be ready for a serious relationship ... i would be very leery about making this sexual in any way until she is graduated from high school.

go for it... you only live once, as long as her parents are cool with it then why should you be bothered what the society think, if it is meant to be between you both, then you'll get through it and be stronger enough to deal what the society throw at you, it will make your relationship stronger

That is tricky! Is she 18? If not I would try to wait until she turns 18 before you push the issue. If her parents are ok then it would probably be ok but I wouldn't want to chance it!

Well, if her parents are ok with it, then I think you should go for it, but depending on her age, don't do anything sexual until she's at least 16. Just ignore people if they say anything, it's your life not theirs. I hope you're v.happy together :] x
