This is disgusting….neocons desperately trying to gain political advantage by trying to blur the lines between homosexuality and pedophilia even though society has moved on from that sick, twisted connection. There have been several Republicans public figures who have claimed this is a gay problem...I'm just curious who agrees. Don't be shy, I'm asking that all party supporters answer this one. Please just be calm and not hateful so the question doesn't get removed and I can see your answers. ;)

It makes me sick that Washington has to put a political slant on everything. They are more concerned about how this will effect the Dems and the Repubs rather than the main fact: We have a pervert in Congress. This is NOT about left or right. In addition to that a Republican House member submitted a resolution yesterday to temporarily disband the page program. The only reasons for doing that would be either they are blaming the problem on the pages or they are admitting they cannot currently protect these young people.
I heard a talk show idiot (from radio) yesterday saying that it is well known that homosexuals have these tendencies which cause them to be attracted to young boys. Jeez!! He said it was scientific but, of course, could quote no evidence at all (since there is none).
For SHAFT: You are darned right I'd be equally disgusted if it weren't a Republican. This guy was targeting 16 and 17 year olds!! Do you really think this is just a political game? We have just found out we can't guarantee young people's protection in the United States Capitol bldg for God's sake!! Of course to some it is a political game. The O'Reily Factor showed a scroll identifying Mr. Foley as a Democrat from Florida when they covered this story.

Foley is a pervert of that there is no doubt however there is some good news that seems to be over looked, at least he didn't touch! Can that be said of all the congress? NO! The list is long and been posted on this site several times already. No one party is "clean" of the taint and both parties will use whatever mean necessary to gain the "power" in the next election. It's rather a stark reminder these politicos will grasp at anything not for the good of the people but they are all control hungry piranhas.

Of course they are going to make this an issue especially with upcoming elections, the thing is now Foley is blaming his childhood, bull, then you have the democrats who are loving this due to fact that it might help them with the election, so maybe they withheld the story until this time so to cause problems for Republicans, this all a game for who can win the most votes, they dont care about the page who got the emails, just more publicity to hurt the government.

Yes, I have seen the republicans try to put spin on this already. So far, he is a homosexual, an alcoholic and was sexually abused. It is too bad that most people suck this up, eager to accept these excuses. Homosexuality and pedophilia are separate and have nothing to do with one another. However, this plays to their base who can now blame it on Gays. How long do you think before they start mentioning gay marriage??

You're absolutely correct that it is "spin". It is not a "gay problem" at all. It seems to be a problem where a pedophile placed himself in a position to where he could gain the trust & confidence of young people & their families. He also seems to have been enabled to do this by a political "leadership" that "turned the other way". I'm sure we'll know more as the days unfold of what the real story is.

GLAD should kick him out. Make a public statement that they don't recognize his gayness and don't acknowledge claims that he's gay. They just need something their constituents can recognize as a personal demon. There aren't any Gay Republicans in the grand sceme of things but Nambla is a supporter of the Republican party so it's got to be the Gays.

What I find ironic is that the vast majority of convicted pedophiles who pray on young boys classify themselves as being heterosexual. This is not an issue of gay or straight. This is an issue of him being a sexual predator. The vast majority of homosexuals never sexually abuse children. The vast majority of those who were molested as children never go on to molest children. And the vast majority of alcoholics never molest children. This is just typical Republican politics, looking for anyone or anything to blame but themselves for their illegal wrong doings.

This man just exchanged messages with the page. When Gerry Studds was found to be having SEX with an underage male page, he was simply censured. The Democrats literally applauded him when he turned his back during the proceedings. He went on to serve for 13 more years until he retired.
Where was the media coverage then?

it's sick and disgusting no matter which political side you are on. Foley was supposedly the protector of kids on the web. apparently he is just another predator and should be made example of.
