Why do you think that when somebody asks a question about physics it might receive an answer or two but ask something like why do lamb and beef taste different and the answers come flying in.
Do you think it's because the majority of Yahoo users are thick?

I don't think the majority of user are thick - only some of them!

But the answer to your question may be as follows - everyone has an opinion about almost anything (whether you agree with that is another matter). But when you're asking a specific question (about physics as the example you're citing) not many people have qualifications in this subject - I for one didn't study physics at school. I'm not thick by any stretch of the imagination but I don't answer questions about which I know nothing!

It's partly boredom, trying to have fun and an element of laziness, but we are all like that to some degree (some hide this under a veneer of angry verbiage). Of course there is also a bit(?) of thickness. Some of it highly commendable - surely it must take an awful lot of practise to be that stupid. We should differentiate between the two types of thickness or stupidity; to be ill educated but trying to make the best of a difficult situation is admirable (forgiveness for dropping the occasional massive clanger). To be well educated but thick on anything that hasn't been taught to you is a sin; such people are also generally ill tempered, impatient, judgemental and often wrong in matters where their ego gets in the way. My question 'If your legs turned to jelly, what flavour would they be'? got a lot more answers than is my norm - people just love one word easy points. But then again, it was just meant to be a bit of fun - It's nice to have a mix, but let's not encourage too much thickness. Actually, if you look at the question that you stated, you will find that I answered it and treated it seriously.

When I see physics, chemistry, math questions, the first thing that comes to mind is “do your own damn homework” If someone is truly stuck, I’ll answer if I can. The other general interest questions are more fun, so I’m more inclined to answer them.

There are NOT any thick people on here. Just lots of different opinions. If we all thought a like it would be a very dull world.

More people have opinions about the taste of their food than know much about physics.
