By real, I mean the real voice that you have..not when you try to adopt a phoney US style singing voice. Have you ever sung in your real singing voice?

By Phoney US style singing voice, I mean people who are NOT from the USA that do NOT speak naturally with a US accent, yet somehow their singing voice is 'American sounding' i.e not their real singing voice, but deliberately put on.

Bad... very bad. Thank goodness for enclosed cars and showers so no one has to hear me.

Unfortunately, most of the deluded fools on the X factor think theirs is good. Mine's pretty good, but only for certain songs and when I haven't got a slight cold although eating about ten teaspoons of sugar can alleviate that a little bit. As far as singing in a US style, I do traditional punky slightly cockney - I don't have time for phoney American voices and even if I do Strangers in the Night at karaoke I sing 'darnce' rather than 'dAns'

Think about this, If you owned a fine Stradivarius violin and were a violin virtuoso, you wouldn't leave your instrument out in the rain, would you? A classical singing voice is like a fine instrument. Except that you can't go buy another one if you screw this one up,now can you? So, inhaling any kind of pollutants such as smoke, fumes from gasoline, dust, smogs and so forth will eventually harm your "instrument." In the same way, banging your violin case around doesn't do your violin any good, does it. So the case for your instrument, "your body," needs the same loving care you would give the case for a fine instrument. Which means healthy living in all ways. Good diet, plenty of water, adequate amounts of sleep, avoiding stress and general good health habits are essential to maintaining the quality of your voice. I think that answers your question.

Every body has a good voice. You just have to make sure that you sing in the right key. I am an Aussie, why would I want a Yankee accent

Mine is pretty good, my wife's is amazing. We sing as honestly to our own voices as possible. I have a strange mix of being brought up in Kent by a Dad from Belfast and having lived in the West Country for the last 11 years. If you want to judge for yourself visit http://www.masterofnone.org.uk and go to "hear us play". The sound clip with my voice most prominent on is "Midsummer Morning" - I'm also playing guitars and bass. If you want to hear my wife's voice at its best listen to either of the other two clips.

My painting is much better ! By the way, I have painted that portrait of Van Gogh on the street in Basel. My favourite impressionist!
Yes, I have sung, in a church choir, but my voice broke during the Sunday service! Since then I have not really tried.

I sound absolutely fantastic when singing along to the radio in the car or at home. BUT, turn the volume down and Woh! I sound like a bag of nails being dropped onto concrete.

When singing solo, I don't like the sound of my voice.
Although I did score high points in high school choir contests for solo competition, I never did like the timbre.
On the other hand, my voice is really good when singing as backup and harmony.

i'm egyptian and i sound kinda bad. but you can't sing an english song with an arabic voice, the style is just too different. Arabic songs don't need strong voices, just good ones. you can't sound like Elissa (the lebanese singer) and sing a Green Day song.
