There are usually some sort of localized version of most US cable channels internationally. Network channels (CBS, NBC, etc) I believe are exclusive to the US. However most of the programming is exported anyway (Lost airs on ABC, CSI airs on CBS).

I know alot of channels now offer that you can go to their website and watch the shows you missed there. If you can't get the channels on your tv in England, you may be able to go to the us version of the websites and watch any shows that you wanted to see!

i have sky tv and on that they have a few american channels like.
ABC
CBS(during the day this is a stock market channel, then at night it shows things like conan obrien and david letterman)
and
FX- it is a channel from fox that shows great shows like family guy, the shield and brotherhood.
so geting sky or NTL is your only chance
