Both the players are doubles specialist. Equally good and matched. Mahesh has slight advantage of height. He seems more versatile than Leander since he has won several titles along with different partners in men's double and mixed double. Leander is better single's player than Mahesh.

mahesh bhupathi is by far much better than leander paes. u see, leander is very smart - all the doubles he's won r with gud partners like martina navratrilova, mahesh bhupathi, liezel huber, martin damm. wat he wins is generally not becoz of his own prowess but becoz of his parters game.
mahesh bhupathi on the other hand wins on both his & his parters prowess. & even if uu go by record statistics mahesh has won more doubles than leander.
leander is the son of india's national players in hockey & something, so he has much better connections & isrepresented better.

Paes can play some good doubles. I would lean towards him although I am no expert on either count.
