Dress codes in Pre K through 12th grade is a great idea.
I believe it would cut down on the competitiveness between children, over whom had the best clothes.
It would also equalize children from low income situations, every one would look the same.
Hope this helps.

I think it’s a grate idea, for many reasons. As kid leave school and enter the work force they will find that all most all jobs have some form of dress code. You won’t see a plumber in a suit and tie or lawyers in bib overall. Can you think of a type of job that doesn’t have some type of dress code?
When I was growing up we were so poor I had to wear clothes I was ashamed of. If everyone dressed the same, you couldn’t tell who was rich or poor, or in this gang or that. The students wouldn't be thinking about what they’re or other people are wearing and maybe learn something.. Many other countries require uniforms. There is a real problem with American schools, kids aren’t learning. If we keep going like this we’ll find our selves a third would country. Besides I think catholic school uniforms are hot. Like that Arrowsmith video with Liv Tyler.

I think schools should have the right to enforce a dress code. I mean look at the stastics, they speak for themselves.

Urban districts across America adopted a mandatory uniform policy in 1994.(high schools) Since then, school crime has dropped by 76 percent, while attendance has reached an all-time high.

Uniforms do eliminate competition, pressure, and assaults perpetrated by older kids on younger kids for their sneakers and other possessions. They also allow some kids to focus better, especially in the lower grades...I think University uniforms is a bit much though.

I think a dress code is okay but hey if you are going to let kids wear their own clothes you shouldnt have a dress code because they arent going to abide by it. I think there should be uniforms because you dont have to dress to impress, everyone is wearing the same thing, and less stress trying to look good.

I think women look good in dresses. What do you think about dress codes in the work force - you know, the place that college is supposed to be preparing you for?

well...a very controversial issue.....in schools i think uniforms work best....infact it gives u the sense of oneness and makes ur school which is like ur family look unique.
when it comes to colleges i feel dress code is necessary, but not to an extent where u force ppl to wear ties n suits in hot hot places like chennai....however there should b a check on the girls clothes as the present tend is to expose. if this is the trend thn there is no point in trying to fight eve teasing and other such acts.if the girls fail to realize this its better the college reminds thm abt it.

I added stuff on
ok, it is true that uniforms stop students form think about fashion but if they are not thinking about or if their cloths look better then other or what ever, it makes them just despise the uniforms, and to complain about the uniforms, they start to think of ways to get around the uniforms...so it does not help them to concentrate more on their studies. having uniform will not help them concentrate on their work, only they can really make them self concentrate on their work, and if they do not want to then that is their problem.

and who thinks pf their school as a family?
I'm sorry but over I do not know or like half the people because of how they treat me and/or others

Here in Australia almost all schools have a set uniform. It was much easier to wake up in he morning and just put on your school uniform and not have to come up with something good to wear.

dress code should be there as uniform creates the sense of oneness among students. it mkes them concentrate mre on studies than on fashion.
mst importantly, the children of different financial background stdy togethr n with the help of uniform, these differences doesnt create rift between them

I think every school should have uniforms. That should be a national standard in both public and private schools. It will help defeat classicism in our society.
