Appearently deli meats are also on that list unless heated through. :( Sux cause I love my subway. I didn't know about the mayo thing that the other girl said, I've been slathering it on everything lately. It seems that you just have to be smart about what you eat. Don't eat anything raw or that has been prepared around raw food, like sushi. And certain fish are definately excluded from your diet. No soft cheeses, *cry, including feta and brie. Which means no more brie and bacon sandwiches. I hope my child appreciates all this sacrifice lol. :D

Raw Fish like Sushi,
Canned Meats like Spam or Ham or Vienna Sausages,
Canned Tuna
too much Caffeine (in moderation is ok)
Nuts / Peanuts if there is an allergy in your families

And don't change any kitty litter while your pregnant... the dust from the litter can get into your system and affect the baby's development

That's all I can think of right now.

Anything High risk for food poisoning including Lysteria and salmonela, such as: soft cheese, undercooked meat, poultry and eggs should be served very hot and cooked right through (no softboiled eggs), pre prepared salads from take out places, seafood unless it has been kept very cold (on ice) or recently cooked and served hot. All take out and restaurant foods should be fresh, served very hot or very cold, and handled hygenically. Any foods prepared around raw meat (clean chopping block, knives and benches)

Any foods that have very high levels of vitamin A (vitamin A overdose can cause serious defects) Pate and Liver are two examples.

...and of course any drugs, medications (withour docs permission) and alcohol.

Shellfish/ fish that's high in Mercury, raw eggs, undercooked meats, there's soo much more to it though. For a complete list pick up "What to Expect When You're Expecting" or as your doc. That book was my bible basically throughout my pregnancy though. You can also check out babycenter.com and find tons of answers to all your pregnancy questions there not to mention talk to other women and professionals as well. Congrats and Good luck!

Don't eat:
Raw meat such as sushi, seafood, or rare/undercooked beef or poultry, because of the risk of contamination with coliform bacteria, toxoplasmosis, and salmonella.

Raw eggs, or foods containing raw egg, such as Caesar dressing, mayonnaise, homemade ice cream or custard, unpasteurized eggnog, or Hollandaise sauce, because raw eggs may be contaminated with salmonella.

Soft cheese such as blue cheese, feta, Brie, Camembert, and Latin-American soft white cheeses such as queso blanco and queso fresco, because they may harbor harmful bacteria.

Fish containing accumulated levels of mercury in their fatty tissues such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish. When a pregnant woman consumes large amounts of mercury, her baby may suffer brain damage resulting in developmental delays (for example, delays in learning to walk or talk).

Fish containing high levels of an industrial pollutant called polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in their fatty tissues such as bluefish and striped bass, and freshwater fish such as salmon, pike, trout, and walleye from contaminated lakes and rivers. According to the March of Dimes, consumption of large amounts of PCBs by pregnant women is linked to decreased attention, memory, and IQ in their babies. Check with your local Health Department to determine which fish in your area are safe to eat.
