Being there for a little over a year in the US Army with 1st Infantry Division I found a good comparison of Iraq to another part of the world... the US to be more specific. For those that haven't been to Iraq (fortunately for you), a good comparison of Iraq (to me at least) would be Compton, CA. There are 2 minor exceptions though: insurgents don't wear wifebeater tank tops and pants that hang around their knees... and they're middle-eastern not african-american. Other than that, it's pretty similar... of course the cause for the violence is pretty different too but I assumed that would be obvious and would require no explanation. Would that be a fair comparison???

crazimommi: sorry about your nephew, I know I can attest the main reason I came back safely was that I confronted my unit and the 1st Infantry Division on the war itself... I carried my M-16 about a week out of the whole year plus I was deployed. I knew it was a BS war before it started... the press was reporting on the fake sattelite pictures of the WMD's before the war started, it was very clear to me this was just Bush starting a war for oil. My opinion since the deployment has only crystalized even more with all the news and documentaries about his joke of a presidency (if there were any honest people in charge of the voting in 2000 and 2004 he would've never been in office to begin with).

I got out of the Army 3 months after coming back (had to wait 3 months due to the Army's new "stabilization policy" after coming back from deployment), I couldn't stay in the Army though... I'm too much of a intellectual and not a YES-man the Army basically requires.

No, not racist... maybe a bit stereotypical but not racist... I take it you're "african-american" though right? I hate being politically correct... can't say steward/ess, have to say "flight attendant"... can't say secretary, have to say "administrative assistant". Either way, you're either Republican or Black if you take offense to my question/comments. My response? Go to Iraq than tell me how I am, until than keep watching your Fox News or BET (whichever it is that suits you best).
