Does not sound corny to me. I believe it can be done. Abe Lincoln said that most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be. I think if we make up our minds to get along, we can. If we make up our minds not to argue about trivial things, or anything at all, then we won't. If we make up our minds not to fling racial slurs or other barbs at others, then we won't. And people who do should of course be reported for abuse.

I am sorry to hear that, I really hadn't noticed that they were racial replys on most of them, I did notice that some of them are very up front and sarcastic, and some are plain mean.
But I think when you have a site like yahoo Answers your gonna get all kinds of crude and crazy answers and some really good ones too.
Its a site in which you can express your opinions on matters and everyone gets to do it. I think you are going to get the bad with the good when it comes down to it especially when you don't have to see that crude person face to face.
I think if they were right there and had to look you in the face their answers would be different or they wouldn't have a remark.
Besides religion and politics are things that you could argue about all day and never really come to an agreement on because I am going to believe what I want to believe and you are going to do the same.
I think all most can do is agree to disagree

Let's join Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder for another rendition of "Ebony and Ivory".

Unfortunately the world is not like that. Those that are ignorant (in the original sense of the word) fear what they do not know, and so actively display their prejudices towards people that look different to themselves.

Even more unfortunate than that, is the fact that many people that think they are non-racist, are capable of discrimination as a result of their incomplete knowledge, their naivety, or their personal lack of social integration. I wonder just how many sillly PC ideas have been concocted at Islington dinner parties by well-meaning white liberals, and those same ideas have either not furthered the cause of racial tolerance (as hoped), or have actually set it back.

Here is the reality.

(1) Prejudice does not mean the same as discrimination. You don't need to be prejudiced to discriminate.
(2) Racism exists, and is more complex than most people think. It can be against everyone of other races, or it can target one particular race.
(3) Most people have some form of prejudice - it's not an either/or option, it's a sliding scale.

What we, as concerned individuals, should try to do is to try to shift other individuals, and society, more towards the 0% end of the scale. It may sound like an overly ambitious, idealistic pipe dream, but the revolution begins with yourself.

Without seeing the additional comments you have (about racial replies on here as being the reason you asked) I was going to say my history teacher in high school put it best about "we" not being able to get along. Until the Reagan and Bush (Sr. and Jr.) administrations, almost all wars have been started due to personal reasons, nothing at all to do with bigger issues... regarding the people of the country not just the ruler's personal life and/or financial focus in the world (aka greed). Basically, if we were all the same we'd die of boredom because peace is too boring for most world leaders... there's no "rush" in it... or no real financial value really--though it's ficitious (I think it is anyways) "Lord of War" with Nicolas Cage and Jared Leto is a good example of that theory. ANYWAYS, as for your ACTUAL question... I really haven't noticed racial replies... just really stupid ones that people post just to get points... I really couldn't think of any other logical reason why else they would.

I do not find this to be a corny question, hopefully you will inspire someone even just one to think of their actions. And make a change. I personally think that on this site many people do it to get attention. Or to incite a reaction or response, some are doing it for the point of research projects and analysis. Others are just plain and simple ignorant. The only way people are going to get along is to begin by respecting differences, embracing each others differences, and realizing that there is a great deal to be learned from one another. Our differences are what make this world such a wonderful place to be. God Bless and thanks for this thought provoking question.

Cultural Back Ground

It appears that all cultures have one thing in common they all appear to think that their culture is best.

The Americans of the USA believe in God, Mom and apple pie but as Freud said they're all Mother F@ckers, they believe in "The Rights of Man" and Manifest Destiny both at the same time and see no contradiction.

In Britain we have BNP made up of Anglo Saxon invaders saying go home illegal immigrants, We have the Mother of Parliaments yet retain a Monarch and house of Lords.

As with all cultures we believe we're the best. When we don't bother to look at the cultures of others.

I whole heartedly agree with you. There are some people out that just seem to have to turn everything either racial or sexual. I get sick of it myself and for the most part, I try to ignore those people. When I get tired of it and reply, it seems as if I'm the who has said something wrong and I get cited for it.

With any luck no. We are defined by adversity, we have run out of environmental challenges to conquer for the time being we have only ourselves to raise a challange against us. If we had nothing to oppose us we would quickly fall into uselessness, never advancing our knowledge or technology or evolving as a species.
like it or not getting along is the most dangerous thing our species can do.

Hardly any racial replys in the baseball section. I'm not sure that "always" is the truth. I'd be interested to know what questions you're reading.
