ok so me and a friend were laying flooring in the attic and we didnt hit any wires that I know of but now the aircondition only blows hot air.

The only thing that we touched as of the air was picking up one of those silver round vent things, that route the air around the house, so we could slide the wood past it.

When we came down during the day we smelled a burning smell as if we had turned the heater on for the first time and since we just moved in it would smell like that if we turned on the heater.

But so we had it set at 65 on cool and only warm air is being blowed. I went up there and the system is cold and the outside unit is spinning like crazy.

So what the hell is the problem...please someone help with this...not having an aircondition in South Louisiana sucks big time.

so thats basically all I can think of...does anyone have any idea what to do??

First your air conditioner must be clean, you have to clean the aluminum grills from any dirt. Since you are complaining about the noise, it maybe the fan, mostly the bearing is worn out, either change the bearing. Then if this will still not cooling you, you have to check the compressor, whether it has still the cooling gas in it. Another you have to check is one of the common problems, the capacitor, maybe the capacitor is leaky or not working, try to touch the compressor if it is hot then your capacitor is not working(see connection first before you try to test it, it might have a loose connection only).

ok either you have run out of freon (called a leak) or your compressor went out that will cost you 300 to 400 dollars or you motor where the under the coils is burned out which that is probably it ..does your aircondition leak watr inside ..how long have you not cleaned it.. have you changed the filters...they need to be changed often,,,.. you said you moved those big silver things well those are ducts..and you may moved them where they may not be siting right..so, check all that out and see what you come up with

You most likely clogged the filter on the blower unit in the attic with saw dust? I would remove the filter and replace with new. That should solve the problem. It's a $5 fix.

Good Luck.

Looks like ata31254 has the best answer. That is the first thing I though of when you said the heat came on. I don't think it has anything to do with the outside unit...unless you have a"heat pump". The outside unit "will" run when the heating cycle is on.

go to your furnace and shut off the switch on the side .now go to your thermostat and disconnect the white wire .set thermo to cool and turn switch back on .if your furnace and a/c turn on at the same time then you have shorted the thermo wire.the only way to get just a/c is go to the furnace and disconnect the white wire at the circuit board

extra beneficial than possibly the thermostat is caught open on it or one million/2 way open,or the interior administration unit is undesirable on it,that takes place lots to those ,it would desire to be heat on the heater center yet not permitting the motor to blow the warmth off of it,verify and be sure the optimum administration unit is working on it,solid luck.
