You know, I posted a similar question like this a few weeks ago, mine was:
"When will Britain decide to dicth the monarchy and go back to being a Republic like it was after the English Civil War?" I got a few awnsers from that, and i have to say, I am a Republican all the way, we no longer need the Royals, we don't have an Empire anymore and our population is getting weary of them stealing all our money just to keep them on the throne. I HATE the royals and everything they stand for which does not include Democracy! I love Democracy, but just don't like it when the Queen doesn't support it!

If a country was being started from scratch today, then monarchy would be a daft way to go for government.
However, as things stand, we have a democratically elected government, of which the Queen is not really a part, though she is a useful constitutional safeguard if the government started being dreadful (trying to abolish elections, pass terrible laws, that kind of thing) and the system works, so I can't see any point changing it.
Also, we get more tourist revenue through having royalty that's alive and kicking than we spend on supporting it.
The land that belongs to the Crown belongs to the country anyway and the land the Royal Family owns privately, in its own right, the people wouldn't get back by abolishing the monarchy.
Ain't broke: don't fix it.

According to ancient beliefs, the monarchy of England will never be abolished. In the Old Testament, God promised King David that his throne would never be empty until the end of the ages. Many believe that the throne of England is the throne of David, since the monarchy can trace itself back through the years to David's reign. The kings and queens of England are always crowned while sitting on a rock believed to be the same stone that Jacob set up as a pillar to God in the Old Testament.

I honestly dont believe the monarchy will make it much further than the current Queen. Most of the monarchy supporters are also older people and once the current Queen dies and most of her supporters are gone too there will be no one left who cares and it will become increasing irrelevant to the British people who will shut it down once and for all. None of the Queen's descendants really seem that concerned with doing anything other than enjoying the privledges of their life, and do not have the grace and dignity of the Queen. I definitely think that elected leaders are a benefit -at least they only have a temporary position of power.

Not for a good long time I hope.
In Britain we are ruled by elected people, the monarchy is mainly tradition, although it does bring a lot of money in through tourism. Only unpatriotic liberals hate the Queen, I don't think they can stand that someone can live a privileged life because of who their ancestors were. Well, get over it, most people here are proud of our Queen and while that stays thus it will stay.
Besides, without a monarchy who'd be head of state? Getting rid of it would bring about loads of constitutional problems which would require the government to have a complete reform, which is totally unnecessary. Besides, I don't really trust the government to do it.
It does no one any harm, I can't see the problem some people have.

What have the monarchy got to do with leadership !
From the track records of so called elected leaders (chosen usually by their party) I'm not sure which is better.

The tourism money generated by the Royal Family will ensure the survival of the monarchy.

We have both in Britain! The Queen is expensive for us but she is also head of the church of England. She is our best ambassador. But powerless. I would hate her job! Being nice all day in the pouring rain and zero privacy!
I like to have both. Politicians come and go each with their own selfish agenda but the Queen is constantly loyal no matter how badly we treat her.
Did you know in our history we killed Charles the first and became a republic for a few years? We hated it and returned to a monarchy with a Parliament?

Monarchies won't last forever but let's enjoy them while it lasts. 300 years from now there may not even be monarchies of any kind.

Even with the monarchy, elected people are the leaders.
Only HM can dissolve Parliament, but if she did it on her own whim, they'd probably get a new Queen, maybe Prince Harry. ;-)
