Totally expect a vaginal exam... basicly to make sure your cervix is closed the way it should be, expect them to take blood to run tests... your going to have to pee in a cup so they can see if theres anything wrong there... ummm a TON of paperwork... things you need to know are.... the first day of your last period.. you just might get a ultra sound to see the babys measurements... normally done around week 20 the SECOND time in the pregnancy... you might have to drink a bunch of sugar to see if it spikes your blood sugar *gestational diabeties test* hmmmm you need to know about all medical history on your side and the babys dad... any mental illness... birth defects... that sort of stuff... I think thats about it.... :) Congrats!! *I was 16 wks along when i found otu i was preggo for the first time... its common i had my period and everything... i thought i was just getting a little bit fat!!! Ooops! :P

hey. well congratulations! The first appointment is pretty simple really. The doc will take your blood pressure and check your tummy and your baby. Usually if you havnt had a recent papsmear they would give you one at your first appointment at around 6weeks, but you are 18weeks so maybe that is too far gone for a papsmear i think.? They will want to test your urine and probably do an internal exam to make sure everything is good! They will most likely give/send you for a blood test and an ultrasound for around 20 weeks. Its all so exciting! I hope everything goes well for you! Cant believe you only just found out, thats amazing!

At 18 weeks the doctor will probably use a dopplar in order to get a heartbeat. You also might go for an ultrasound to determine the baby's size. You may or may not get an internal exam. Then you will go 1 time per month until the final month, where you will then go every week. The doctor will listen for the heartbeat and measure your abdomen at these subsequent visits. Near the end, you will get an internal to determine if you are dilating or if your cervix is effacing (thinning) at all. Good Luck!

First of all congradulations! And what to expect is that your blood pressure and weight will be taken. They might ask for a urine sample. This is how they check for numreous things like infections or if you're not eating enough or right. I had that happen to me with my second child. They'll also check for your baby's heart beat and maybe you'll get an ultrasound. Oh, and by the way they might do some bloodwork. Don't worry you'll be fine, take care. Good luck.

Definately expect a full vaginal exam with pap. They will probably listen for the heartbeat and may even give you and ultrasound that day if they have a machine available, depends on your doctor. They ask all of your medical history and check all of your vitals, bp, heartrate, ect. You will also have a urine test and a lot of blood drawn, they took about 5 vials from me. That first visit was the longest, but not really bad. Congrats :)

well first CONGRATS!!! Usually the first apointment will consist of...peeing in a cup...blood test....hearing the heartbeat...since you are 18 weeks already you might even get a ultrasound but they are usually done at around 20 weeks because thats when you can see the sex of the baby...they will give you a estimated due date....and some doc are different but they might make you a apointment for the glucose tolerence testing
