I don't think he should have been able too, but, if they didn't let him it would have gotten out and been blown up as a racial discrimination within the Met.

Guarding Embassies and politicians are special duties that the police officer apply for, therefore they should cover the duties that are assigned to them.
I think the officer in charge may be the racist who put the PC on that duty, The PC would not have to fear the Israeli staff but I think there is a massive problem with his fellow Muslim's opinion
I know students at our universities have tried to organise peace rallies with Jews Christians and Muslim's but the Muslims will not attend if Jewish students are there, but they have had a lot of messages from Muslims saying they would like to attend but are afraid of reprisals

Again the country is left with a dilemma because of another Muslim and his beliefs.
When are the powers to be going to realise that these people thrive on this type of publicity.
Why was a Muslim officer ever allowed to be armed? We hear in the news of Muslim fanatics who appeared on the surface to be " a happy family man who adored his children" then suddenly converts to a suicide bomber. How are we, the general public, supposed to know which of the Muslims are not a threat to us?
I think we should be extremely watchful of all Muslims, and should certainly not be giving any of them firearms.
He should be put out to grass.

When the IRA attacked London and Manchester were officers from Irish Catholic backgrounds excused duties?I think not,so why is it so different for a Muslim?

I disagree. As a police officer they are responsible to protect ALL persons. IF they can't protect all persons equally that is discrimination. Leave your religion and your politics at home if you are a police officer. If you can't do that you are in the wrong line of work.
As to your rationality that a muslim police officer will be better at stopping extremeism in muslim communities, that dog won't hunt. If they won't guard an embassy of a country they don't like then they have no desire to get along with people they don't like because of racial hatred. Racial hatred is a pox that should be removed from civilized socities, and definitly has no place in a police force.

This Policmen should not have been in this particular Squad in the first place . It surely is a "Management" Issue ? and that means Managing the suitability as to who is accepted into which Division , with the likelyhood as to where this particular Officer would be Deployed too, but in this case this one should be far, far removed from any possibility of a repeat performance = "Not Fit for Purpose" comes to mind. ? ? ?

Police officers shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose the duties that they want to carry out and which ones they don't. They are there to protect everyone the community, regardless of race, religion or anything else.

I agree with one posting here, as an attested officer, and yes I am, I took an oath to defend ALL of HM's subjects , to treat them equally and without bias, and I like to think I do a good job. You cannot go around 'picking' when and where and why nots of duties, its totally unbeliebale that we are now cowtoeing for politcal correctness, its going far too far.......
Where will it stop ????, white copper wont patrol Brixton, Brazilian cop refuses to go to stockwell because of what happned to de Menzies, etc etc, its madness.........................

All officers swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen and the citizens of this country. They also swear they will fulfill their duties without prejudice or bias and to provide the same level of service to everyone regardless of race e.t.c.
By refusing to protect persons of Israeli descent he violated his oath.

He should not have been put in this position in the first place, so it should be his managers who made the decision to put him there to take the flak and not the officer.
