Yes, it is a mortal sin.

There's nothing at all wrong with it. It's perfectly normal, the vast majority of people do it, and it doesn't hurt anyone. It doesn't give you hairy palms, it doesn't make you go blind. It has no adverse affects at all. If you enjoy it, go for it.

For the bible-believers: as far as I know, the bible has nothing against masturbation. Onan's "sin" was something entirely different - he refused to impregnate his brother's wife even though god commanded him to do so.

No. It is a healthy way to satisfy sexual arousal. No one gets hurt, no one gets pregnant and you can't get a sexually transmitted disease. I always told my kids it is a perfectly ordinary behavior, but it is private. Just like using the rest room, you do it behind closed doors and wash your hands afterward. My Mom taught me it was 'wrong' but she was wrong. When ever I hear someone say there is something wrong with it, I say "There are two kinds of people when it comes to masturbation. Those who admit doing it and those who lie about it and say they don't." Your clergy person might say different, but doctors agree with me.

it is healthy .helps to release sexual tension without all the associated risks of sexual intercourse.and i've read that frequent masturbation by men helps to prevent the developement of prostate cancer. Unfortunately, after the excitement of the moment has passed, many people find themselves filled with guilty and or shame.

its absolutely ok to masturbate because it help young/unmarried people to release their sexual urge/tension in a safe way, without unwanted pregnancy or disease ! BUT make sure you only do it occasionally, spend most of your others time n energy for something beneficial like study, game/sport/hobby which should lead you to a more healthy life ! stay away from porn material n you should be able to have more control of your unnecessary sexual desire ! cheer !
