My daughter turned 1 a couple of weeks ago. I'm wondering how much cow's milk and how often. I'm basically staying on the same routine we had when she was on formula, I'm just giving her less cow's milk per serving and she's getting no more than 20 oz/day. Am I doing this right?

My husband said he read on Baby Center.com (I think that's where he got it) that when on whole milk they should get around 16 oz. a day. So if she's getting around 20, then I think that's okay.

I'm no doctor, but when my daughter turned one, I just offered her milk with her meals. She wasn't the type of kid that would drink too much milk and get full and not eat her meal, so this worked for me. If she emptied her cup but ate her meal I would refill it. I think 20 oz sounds like a good amount. Don't worry about doing it 'right'. The fact that you are concerned about it tells me you are doing your best and that's what your daughter needs.
A side suggestion: do not give her any juice (even though you didn't ask about that).

Im sure you will get 20 replys to your question with 20 different answers but last I heard it was best for a 1 year old to have 3 8 ounces of milk a day.So your daughter is lacking 4 ounces daily but if she is getting milk in other foods then thats fine.

We basically gave her 3 8oz. bottles a day. I would basically alternate between milk and solids and have the last meal of the day be a bottle before she would go to bed. So I guess 24oz. a day is what we decided, but am sure 20 is just fine too.

She should be eating her regular meals, breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner and having milk in beteween or during the meals...in a sippy. 20 oz sounds good.
100% on whole milk
