This came up in a conversation at work....
If you were separated from your spouse and living with someone else, would you go home if you found out the spouse had a disease? Would you feel obligated to take care of them and the children? Would you dump the live-in?

I have the children and am already taking care of them. As for my ex, we're still close friends, so I'd be there for him, but I wouldn't dump my bf to move in with him and take care of him. My obligation ended when he walked out that door. I care about him and would help him if I could, but I wouldn't sacrifice my own life or happiness for him. Not anymore.

depends on how much i loved the live-in i dont think i would go back to the spouse and made sure i took care of the children sos they would know they had somewhere to turn if anything did happen kids need all kinds of people and a step can really help

I have been separated for almost 3 years and divorced for 4 months. My ex is sick and there is not a hope in hell that I would go back to take care of him. I had 32 years of his abuse, ain't helping him again.He made my life miserable then and since we separated so he can just deal with it and get on with his life. Others in his family have tried to help and he would prefer to suffer by himself. So, I figure he can have at it.

I would definatley see what i could do to help my former spouse
I believe that if you really loved a person why would you not care what happens to them wether your with them or not. I can't say that i would allow their problems to interfere with my present life but i would try to help.

yes,if your only seperated. you said the children,so they are not yours. is a different situation.just b sure she wants you & not family help-ask!
