Try rubbing alcohol. Don't pour it on it, pour it on a rag and just start wiping. It might take a while, but it will work. I've done this before myself. It is a mess!! Use the alcohol, though. Good Luck!!

ONLY if the Sole plate is a stainless steel/shiny finish, then do the following; (i'm NOT sure about the duller Teflon coated surfaces)

Heat the iron on the 2 dot setting. When it has reached this temperature, turn OFF the iron. Then get a 1 sheet of thick textured kitchen paper towel and fold it twice i.e. into a quarter. Then very CAREFULLY, while the iron is still hot (but switched off), quickly & firmly rub the sole plate with the paper towel. Try this a few times. If fails, then repeat the whole process from the beginning.

Failing this. Turn OFF the iron ,ensuring you disconnect it from the mains switch. Then apply white spirit onto the sole plate with a rag or small brush and rub it clean with a cloth. You may need to repeat a few times for a good result.

Good luck !

Plug the Iron in, let it go hot, then turn a rug over, rough type( not nylon) and Iron the revers side of it, the roughness on the rug, will take the plastic off, without scratching the plate of the iron.

Put the iron in the freezer for about an hour, or long enough for the metal to be REALLY cold. Then try using a small metal spatula to scrape it. If that doesn't work, or you can't get it all off, pick up a bottle of acetone in the nail polish remover section and use that on a cotton ball.

i'm American. right here we are given a call between paper and plastic on the food market. Taxing plastic might want to reason extra individuals to come back to a call on paper. that's both good and undesirable. Paper is biodegradable, yet that would not recommend there is not any environmental footprint for it. How do I fairly calculate the authentic environmental value of both determination? previous that, recycling plastic luggage might want to be pushed through marketplace issues. element the cost of recycling into the fee of the luggage. No authorities intervention required. on the right of the day, even with the actuality that, i truly do not care about the skill. responsible stewardship is accessible through fairly some avenues. in case you Brits favor to apply the skill of the State to do it, cool. in case you come back to a call to take yet another tack, that's ok too. in simple terms as long as we get the job performed.

Go carefull if it is an aluminium of a teflon coated iron as you could well ruin it if you scrape off too vigourously. Try picking what you can off whilst cold then heat it up to soften the black plastic and try wiping the iron on a thick pad of newspaper. If that fails try petrol as a solvent, but be carefull!!!!!!

Go to an old Grannie shop like john Lewis, or Robert dyers. They have these special iron cleaning wipes(also available in a pen form, for little spots). They bloody stink, but they're really good. If they don't work, you're a bit buggered

Let the iron cool down. When its cold to the touch, you can peel off the plastic.
