Dr. is crazy... from week to week his changes he mind about inducing and now has even changed my due date at 40 weeks. My first due date was Oct. 11 and then changed it due to the size of the baby at 37 weeks and said that my due date was now Oct. 5. Which is it? He has told me I was 3-4cm a few weeks ago and now I am 1-2cm. I am going crazy by this man. I can't change doctors because I am so far along and no one will see me. What is a woman to do? He is now wanting to induce on Monday morning.

* Nipple stimulation (10 minutes each side for an hour three times a day)
* Sex/orgasm (releases oxytocin to encourage contractions, but dont do this if your waters have broken)
* Walking and standing upright to put pressure on the cervix
*Drinking a cup of raspberry leaf tea (this has been shown to tone the uterus)
* Accupuncture (certain pressure points have been shown to help induce labour, an accupuncturist will only touch you if you are at least 40weeks)
* eating spicy food/curry (irritates the bowel, and its neighbour the uterus)
*Homepathic remedies (consult a qualified practitioner)

If all else fails A doctor or midwife can perform a membrane sweep which usually brings on labour

hey. doctors just have no idea do they. I had a Membrane sweep done a few days before i was due because i was 3-4cms and i had been in some pain for a few weeks and was just sick of it by then. The doctor inserts his fingers up to the cervix and sweeps his finger between the cervix and the membranes. It is uncomfortable for a few moments but it is 100% safe, and is almost guaranteed to put you into labour within 48hours.
I had mine done and within 4 hours i was having some pretty shocking pain until the next day when it stopped. Then i went for a walk a my waters broke. It was about 17hours from when i had that done to when my waters broke, then my contractions started 6hours after that.
I really recommend that you get it done. Im surprised that noone has suggested this to you since you are already dilated and are over.. !! Goodluck and i hope your baby brings you much joy!

I have to kids and with my first one I did lot of walking. And I didn't have her until four days after my due date. My second one I had him 2 weeks and 4 days early but I was also sick with him. I was always told when the baby is ready it will come. But that so weird that you where 3-4 cm one week and the next be 1-2 cm. Are you in a group of doctor's? You DO NOT want to be induce. I hope you have the baby before monday. GODD LUCK!!!!!!

doc isn't crazy...they're all like that.
if the baby is too large, they may move the due date up to avoid complications. some babys are ready at 40, and some are ready as early as 36 weeks. the larger the baby gets, the less amniotic fluid he has, and the more likely he is to cut off his own circulation from the umbilical cord. due date isn't really the day you'll have the baby...it's the day that they predict the baby will be ready.
they've changed my due date a couple times at 7 months...the baby was really big, so i cut back on sugar, and he's about normal now...so i've been all over the december calendar, and i had some confusion over the date of my last menstrual period, which threw us off a month.
dilation can change, too. don't get too wrapped up in the details...as annoying as they are and as often as they seem to change their minds, doctors read the facts as they were taught...and pregnancies are complicated to predict. it's really up to the baby.
walking helps...and playing with your nipples produces oxytocin..the hormone that causes uterine contractions. have a little caffeine...that can cause labor too...but in moderation..just one mt dew.

You may go before Monday morning. These things take time. I was in labor with my first child for 3 days! I lost my mucus plug on a Sunday night, was in labor, went to the hospital and then it stopped. So, I went home. The NEXT morning I had a check up. That night labor began again so I went back to the hospital, had an epidural and waited. Had pitocin to speed things up. Then ended up having a C-section at 2:30 in the afternoon. Hang in there - it will happen.

i would see about going to another doctor in the same office if possible or going to your GP... but untill then you can try having sex, walking, swimming, or just try to do some house work to be on your feet to get the labor process to start...sorry I know your misirable
