I would love to hear what you think of comparing our system against the Canadian Healthcare System

I have not experienced the Canadian system, so I cannot compare them. But I will say that I think the American healthcare system is a joke. More and more, the only ones getting adequate care are those who can afford to pay ever increasing costs, or those who are impoverished and the state pays for their care. The rapidly diminishing middle class often has to choose between health insurance and medications or eating. Because of the nature of the American culture, I doubt that a system like Canada's would work here...people here have unrealisticly high expectations of medical care, they will not wait for specialized treatment, and they certainly will not be willing to pay the taxes that would be required to support such a system.

I would love to have free healthcare, but not at the expense of long wainting periods for specialty care. Also, who wants to pay that amount of taxes. I wish the US had healthcare for every citizen without regard to age.
