There are a number of reasons but think the biggest reason is that people can be raised to be bigoted. Remember, we are not born racists or bigots. The babies born in the old south did not enter into the world believe black people were inferior and that slavery was good. They were raised to believe that. The children on both sides of the middle east crisis are not BORN bigoted but are raised that way. Experience comes into play as well. For instance if you have been the victim of crime more than once and every time the perpetrator is a member of the same race, it's kind of difficult not be just a tad bigotted. It's not RIGHT but it offers an explanation.

I hope that helps you.

There are many reasons and I believe that the most common ones are ignorance, fear and upbringing. There are good and bad people of every race, nationality and creed, so instead of judging everyone as a whole people should get to know individuals. I am African American and my husband and I moved our family into a predominately white neighborhood 9 years ago and I couldn't tell you how many people acted as if they were surprised because my husband and I take pride in our home (inside and out), our appearance, and our children. We had four children when we moved in and we have five now. Both of us have very good jobs and go to work daily. My children are well behaved, well mannered and very good students. I even had one of my neighbors come up to me and comment on how clean my children are. I just want people to know that they shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and they also need to realize that all that glitters is not gold.
