I thought that all French christian names had to be from an official list. In other words you are not allowed to make up your own, unique name.

A unique Christian name? I think that is an oxymoron - most people want Christian names. Or do you want unique for this era? If so, there are many that we don't hear too much anymore...
Gabrielle
Janine or Janette
Pauline or Paulette
Therese
Laurette
Blanche (not sure if that is a Christian name)
Anita
Helene or Helena
Josephine

My name is Annette, I find it to be a beautiful name, and I never met anyone with this name. I am 22 and according to a census it is extremely rare, it doesnt even make the top 100, to me that is a great thing to have a unique and lovely name. Thanks to my mother!
Annette is the diminuative, french form of Anne...

Best of luck!
