Huge and new technology drives are soooo cheap... replace it.

As for those utilities... I have run over 80 computers on my networks for over 5 years, and the only thing that 'kills' hard drives is using the Microsoft filesystems on them... I run one XP Pro, 74 Linux and 6 Mac computers.

The only OS that guarantees a dead and broken hard drive about every year, is Microshaft!

and, Microsoft is also the ONLY system that needs defragging, needs filemaintenance, needs to reload 'drivers', and crashes during operations... Only system with 150,000 virus definitions, spybots, adware, malware, nag screens, etc... I don't have time for that crapola!

When are you all going to get a clue, and just grab the free http://pclinuxos.com or, get a Mac?

Macs do everything Microsoft hoped for, but couldn't achieve, plays all the games, and costs about the same for the same equivalent hardware... but, the support is genuine, the resale value is there five years later... http://apple.com

You can't repair bad sectors they'r lost for good. If there are many of them your HD is on it's way to bake down. By a new one before losing all your data.
