Yahoo DO NOT make any money out of Q.A all information goes into various databases and stored for reference.
This is normal and every now and again the database is edited and most are deleted,this site is purely an "entertainment site" where people all around the world can communicate.
There is no ulterior motive for this service and there is not any income generated whatsoever.

HI,
All the answers on Yahoo! get archived and are entered into the major search engines ( Yahoo! ,Google,MSN etc.. )
When a person makes a search on these major search engines and they see in the results a link to answers.yahoo and choose that link over the other search results ... it will bring them to the resolved answer.
Search the resolved answers and you will notice that there is a small advertisement on the page ,usually relevant to the answer/question. Some people will click on that link and yahoo will be paid a commision.
It's clever of them isnt it ?

Given that the majority of the answers posted here are unsupported by evidence and are speculative opinion I doubt there is much concrete knowledge available.
It may be an interesting way to poll a group of people though.

Seeing as how most the answers are unsubstantiated and most of the questions are far from earth-shattering, probably nothing.
Though I expect there is a more sinister reason for Yahoo Answers that just letting people have a bit of fun....
