Where will all this politicaly correct nonsense end? Yesterday I was in Leeds city center and I noticed they had put up the Christmas lights, ready for the November/ December shopping sprees. There were a few stars and Christmas tree shapes here and there, but then I walked into one of the main high streets and what I saw stunned me.

The "Christmas" lights were a footballer!? A cricket player!? A computer or something, not very christmassy you would agree. I walked on.

A recycling symbol!?!?! Two hands shaking! (and you can bet they're two different colours when lit up)

And then surrounding a sign that says something like "Leeds, a city of the future" was a church, a synagogue and.... wait for it... a Mosque!

We all heard about some city councils last year, trying to ban the lights all together as to not offend ethnic minorities. Yet they will still put up lights for Ramadan.

Is Christmas going to end up being abolished because it might offend some non Christians?

Christmas has been Christian long enough now, for it to long lose any pagan associations. i'm sick of all this PC nonsense too.

Why shouldn't our kids grow up knowing the same style of Christmases that we all grew up with?

The Muslims are not to blame for this, neither are any other minority religious groups. it is our own British white people who are ruining things for us.

As an atheist I do not celebrate Christmas as a religious event but as a celebration of Friends and family.
Lights in towns and cities is only a recent thing (last 150 years). People in the past were able to celebrate Christmas without fancy lights, so why can't people in modern day England.

The point is ... Whatever the real meaning of Christmas is for you then focus on that, for me friends and family

No Christmas isn't racist. It will never be abolished, if for no other reason than big business. A lot of shops make a lot of money at that time of year.

As someone else said, it's not the ethnci minorities that are to blame, it's white, middle class middle aged people on local councils. These are the kind of people that predominantly make up the political correctness brigade.

But who the hell wants to see christmans lights up now anyway for gods sake. Its October!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you will read in the book of Revalations in the Bible, there is a figure of a great Harlot, as indeed, religion itself has been a whore to the world political schemes throughout history. Religion has always been a strange bedfellow with politics and governmental systems.
Well,if you will read further after witnessing this Harlot in Rev.s, you will find that the political armies of the time just before the war of Armeggedon begins, throws her down and ruins her, killing her .

So , yes, whoever asked the question, Religion IS going to be banned, and that will include Christmas, Easter, Halloween, All Saint's Day, Ramadaan, Yon Kippur, and all of the other religious holidays you could possibly come up with . Religion ITSELF will be done away with. Oh, and don't think there won't be a great hew-and-cry in the streets over it! There will, but it will be to no avail, because it is a part of Biblical prophecy and, as you know, God can do anything, A-N-Y-thing, except tell a lie. Once has said something will come about, it WILL come about.

So keep your eyes open and your ears as well , my friends. Because the end of days as we know them is at hand. There is but one prophecy to be fulfilled before the declaration of "True Peace and Security " ( By mankind, poor fools ) is made and then , as a theif in the night, Armeggedon will be instantly upon them.( Book of Matthew )

Personally, I sincerely look forward to it. It'll mean the end of this crummy, horrible and hateful old world order and bring about a new system of things...one with peace and security that is for real...where people can live forever, and no one will die or say "I am sick", where those dead will be resurrected to perfect health and live in the prime state of health, where there will be no war, no food shortages and no crime. People can sleep in a field if they want and not worry about getting killed. Me? I want to sleep on the back of a whale at sea one night....can you imagine it? wow....There will be no satanic influence , because Satan and his cronies will be bound for a 1000 years and bother man no more in that time. Then bother man only for a short testing period before he and his cronies and those who are foolish enough to follow him are destroyed forever. Then the world will be at peace, forever and ever- AMEN! LOL

So you wait and watch- Religion is going to be done away with. But there i sone religion out there that will continue to do the will of God rather than the will of man and that is the true religion. You will know them by their message of love and peace, of trust and faith. Not of rebellion or revolution, but of giving God's things to God and Ceasar's to Ceasar's. But, God comes first.

I encourage everyone on this site to have as much Xmas bling on display in and outside your house. Flashing lights in the windows displaying all the symbols you want. If we give into this it will continue, we need to stand up and be counted and not walked over. America would never tolerate this in their country and neither would any countries with Muslims in. Its disgraceful that Councils are allowed to get away with this. This breeds racism.

It's not the minorities who are creating this charade, its the white x-tians who are trying to be PC.

Stupid city councils who think they know what's best... did they ask the Jews and Muslims what they prefer?? I'll bet if they did ask, they'd hear that x-tians can celebrate how they want, and Jews and Muslims should also be able to celebrate the way they want.

I'm a Muslim. I think x-mas is COMMERCIALIZED and UN-RELIGIOUS these days, it's a shame. I think x-tians should make the occasion religious again, otherwise it's all a big FARCE. We Muslims shake our heads at the ridiculousness.

The secular world has been trying to cut Christ out of Christmas since the beginning of time. Because of apathy, even among Christian, things like politcal correctness (which is nothing more than centure, and an erosion of our rights) came about, and is allowed to be practiced and accepted.

For some reason, people don't like having anything religious for Christmas, even though we would not have this holiday if it were not for the Christians. Doesn't make any sense, does it?

Why is a computer any less "Christmassy" than, say, a robin? They were obviously trying to make some political points with the lights - highlighting the city's connection with sport as home of LUFC and YCCC, pushing the recycling agenda, and emphasising the incusion of all the city's communities - but what's wrong with that?

Your council have clearly NOT "banned" Christmas lights, and I don't know how you have come to your conclusion that they think "Christmas is racist". The only racist thing, to my mind, is the objection to any attempt to unite the city's different races - and that's all coming from your overheated brain.

Quote me one member of a non-Christian faith who is "offended" by Christmas.
