that he had said I should go into fashion, she said, "What, you?" I was taken aback and don't know why she said this. I thought friends are supposed to be happy for you. What shall I say to her? Is she really a true friend?

Say; "Oh, don't worry luv, I'll always be sure to bring you along with me. Style or no style, I'd never leave you behind no matter what."

Then see what she has to say.

Go for your dreams and be true to yourself, if fashion is what you want to do then go into fashion, but do it because you want to not because your cousin thinks you should. Your friend was probably surprised at your decision she may not see you as working in fashion espeically if you have not shown any interest in it before. But as friends she told you her true opinion, you should not judge her and just be happy to be her friend, talk to her as normal and bring into the conversation that you wish to do fashion, if she thinks your wrong, then she has the right to her opinon, don't fall out over such a trival thing, friends do not agree all the time, but a true friend is someone whom is still your friend even if they think you are wrong.

She may be jealous or feeling insecure at the thought of you 'making it' and leaving her alone. Just try to reassure her that you will always be her friend no matter what and maybe encourage her to go into fashion with you?
I've no doubt it's a long hard road and you could help each other along.

Negative remarks from someone does not mean he/she is not a true friend. True friends can be frank in their views though it is pretty gray people make a negative remarks with different motives.
eg...jeolousy ..

You should honestly look at yourself whether you are suitable to go into fashion.

She sounds like a true friend to me. Only true friends are open enough to talk to you that way. Think about it!

She doesn't sound like a real true friend. She is trying to bring you down and i wouldn't listen to her or let her change how you feel about yourself.

I think your reading too much into it and maybe being a little oversensitive but, instead of worrying about it ant trying to 'mind read' what she ment, just ask. don't be confruntational, just explaine that it puzzaled you and wat did she mean? If shes a real freind shell tell you not to worry and explaine. she will probably understand that you were just feeling hurt and reassure you if you explaine.

A little green eye I'm afraid, this does happen occasionally, I would forget all about it and let things go one as normal, she probably regrets saying it.
