It's not your battery or alternator. Check for loose, broken or soft vacuum hoses under the hood. If there is a vacuum leak the engine will die when stopping. Also, if the check engine light is on, go to a qualified tech and have a scan run on the computer. A bad sensor could be the problem. Never try to diagnose a problem yourself by replacing parts. It will get expensive. As you've already found out. It will be cheaper in the long run to have a tech look at it. Hope this helps.

The secret is all of this happened when the battery and terminals were worked on? By the way What Year Make and model and how many miles always helpfull? Something was not connected ground to the body or hot wire from the alternator

Dude, with a new battery your car should run even without the alternator working for more then a couple of blocks. Sounds like you left a loose connection somewhere. Go to someplace like Sears and have them put their tester on it, they'll do it for free.

if you have power then look at that gas line..sounds like either the fuel pump, a block in the the line, clogged air filter, bad spark plugs, or wet/bad distributor
