I live in a large apartment complex, where all the tenants share common washing facilities (clothes washer and dryer). Are there UK government rules / guidelines / suggestions about how many washers/dryers should be installed per tenant? These guidelines can be from either local or national government. Or potentially from landlord associations.

Thanks!

I do electrical work for a housing association, sheltered housing. Each complex has about 50-60 residents, mostly single. The laundry rooms in each complex have either 2 or 3 washers and 1 or 2 dryers. They are never busy, may be different with younger age groups though.

A couple of times I lived in an apartment complex where we shared a laundrymat. We had 2 washers and 2 dryers. I ended up cleaning the lint filters out from the dryers because apparently no one else did. I didn't mind: I found a lot of loose change like that.

I'd guess at not - although seeing as you have some knowledge of where their might be, go and look on their websites. Search via google :-)

The reason i guess not, however, is because it is not a statutory requirement that they are provided for you. You should consult the contract signed by yourself and the owner for clarity on these details. Although expect it to be in the landlords favour :-)

Further help can be obtained from your local CAB - or Citizen Advice Bureau. Google them, and either email them with your problem, or visit them.
